Summary

Lucid USA, Inc. (Lucid) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Air vehicles equipped with rear-wheel drive. The Gen 4 inverter may experience internal friction and become damaged, causing a loss of drive power.

Remedy

Lucid will release an over-the-air (OTA) software update to continually inspect for an inverter failure. If a failure is detected Lucid will replace the inverter, free of charge. Owner notification letters are scheduled to be mailed July 10, 2026. Owners may contact Lucid at 1-888-995-8243. Lucid's number for this recall is SR-26-05-0.
 
Friction? Are the inverters not solid state with no moving parts?
My guess is related to vibration which leads to an electrical failure, in the inverter.
 
Might be vibration and they’re adding more monitoring of power losses on either DC or phase end? Strange. And you think those would already be monitored.

My 26 was full of codes for random stuff (coolant pumps) that weren’t visible to the user but service saw them during a visit, so they might have some
 
Just read the 573 report and they are VERY specific about what is happening. No need for conjecture. Recall 573 Report


  • Fretting happens at interfaces that are supposed to be “static” (e.g., electrical connectors, crimp joints, spring contacts) but are subjected to vibration or thermal expansion/contraction, causing micromotion on the order of micrometers to tens of micrometers.
  • This low‑amplitude sliding under contact force produces mechanical wear and loose particles, which then oxidize and form an insulating film at the contact spot.

I think the cool part is they will monitor via software delivered OTA instead of pulling each and everyone of them into service. An ICE would have to be looked at by the dealership - this "only" 🤣 involves monitoring by software. Chalk up a win for software defined vehicles and NHTSA's willingness to use the monitoring software.
