I have a 2023 AT, and both of frunk door latches began malfunctioning just before my warranty expired. Since the issue was documented before the warranty ended, Lucid is repairing it at no cost.

However, during their diagnostic scan, the service center found a DTC related to the front nose lamp and is claiming the light has failed and needs to be replaced at my expense. I was told the part alone is nearly $1,000.

The confusing part is that I never experienced any issues with the front light bar before the vehicle was picked up. In fact, I charged the car shortly before the service appointment, and the front “LUCID” light bar illuminated normally. And welcome lights lit up as well when the car is unlocked. If it didn't work, I would've noticed. Did anyone had an experience with same lighting malfunctioning? Was there any warning showing on the cluster?

I asked my Service Advisor when the DTC was first triggered, but they were unable to provide that information. I've asked to speak to the manager and I'm just waiting on a call back at the moment...

I work in the automotive industry as well and there's gotta be a log or some sort when the fault code was first set. I'm trying to dispute responsibility for a component that appeared to be functioning properly before the vehicle entered service... Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don’t know about the front light bar but they replaced a front flasher bar (vertical white drl and/ or yellow flasher) that I reported as "message in cluster" that flashed a few times. The thing is because it didn't remained as a permanent fault and wasn't present while being at SC, they didn't touch it. Of course the morning after the message stay longer and the vertical lamp stopped working. They change it right away on warranty. My point is the faulty message should have been present when you gave them the car or reported by you as intermittent (which was obviously not the case). The funny thing is that they work around that bar trying to adjust your hood problem. If that was reported on first diagnostic scan, you should have a time stamp saying it was there before they start working on your car. Ask for it because as you explained it, to me it look suspicious. Don't be afraid to escalate your problem to higher end. Good luck!

Update: I did some research, and service center was able to give me the date when that DTC first appeared aligns with the date that my software was updated. And there has been a case where it could well be just simple software glitch... Now I'm going to argue with this evidence.

You also don’t have to fix anything if it is still functioning correctly, especially if the fix is on your nickel.
