Hello! Introducing myself as a new Lucid Gravity owner, took delivery of DE #266 over the weekend and finding myself making daily excuses to take the car out for a spin or 3.
We're lucky to be in the Bay Area, where we're often on the forefront of tech and EVs. We took delivery of one of the first batches of mass-produced Tesla Model 3s from the Fremont factory back in 2018, and also one of the first refreshed Model Xs in 2021. We've been eyeing the Air for a while, but the size difference between the Model 3 and the Air held us back, since it'd be used to drive and park in tight spaces in San Francisco. The Model X eventually wore on me; it was fun at first, but fearing for the kids' safety with the falcon wing doors, and the deceptively small amount of cargo space in the back with unfoldable captain's chairs, made me look at alternatives earlier this year. There are definitely more choices for 2–3 row EV SUVs now than 4 years ago—I considered the Rivian R1S (too boxy), Volvo EX90 (very buggy from initial reports), and Mercedes EQS (they're discontinuing the line), but on a whim visited the local Lucid Studio and became very intrigued by the Gravity that they just got on the showroom floor that week.
I was waffling a bit on whether to just go for it, but then I stumbled on this forum where new Gravity owners detailed all their ups and downs with this new vehicle, including the massive threads on delivery timings and logistics. It was all the honest feedback here, the detailed information on what Lucid drivers are encountering and seeing, the shared reviews and specs and information that pushed me over the edge. In fact, I got so excited that my initial order for a GGT → DE when I was given the opportunity, on the thinking that it may be built sooner, and that I might as well see what the best Lucid has to offer.
Since I upgraded my order in July, I didn't expect delivery until October at the earliest, but more likely November or December according to the other forum members here and what my SA was telling me about my batch number and build ordering. I just got lucky; my local studio held a DE configured to the exact same colors, just with larger wheels, and again after consulting this forum I took that car off of their hands. It was already on site, so the entire process to validate, detail, and prep the car for delivery was <4 days. I handed in my Model X keyfobs and keycards (it's still a cool and unique design), and traded them for my 1 keyfob (assured that the 2nd one will come, later).
Anyway, I wanted to introduce myself, and show some appreciation for this community for providing sometimes more info. than what my SA. sometimes offered. Also, a shoutout to @Ron_Burgundy for offering one of his extra Gravity form models, which I'm now using as a fancy paperweight for my stack of receipts on my desk.
