Just took delivery of my 2026 Lucid Air Grand Touring yesterday and drove it from Chicago to Columbus, Ohio. Amazing car! High driver engagement and seemingly limitless power. Probably my favorite car I've ever owned. That said, it does have a few quirks:
1. The upper GPS window doesn't remember my chosen view mode from one route to the next. Whenever I route a new trip it goes back to 3D mode.
2. I'd like the ability to set the GPS to "north up" 2D mode. I don't see a way to do this anywhere.
3. If the "Store in Profile" button is enabled, meaning that I changed something (seat position, mirror, steering wheel), then the "Restore" button should also be enabled so I can put back whatever I changed. I'm not sure why one of them would be enabled but not the other...
4. Seems like "Store in Profile" should save all three at the same time (seat, steering wheel, mirrors) so I don't have to navigate to three different screens, since these three are all related to each other.
5. If I'm in the Steering Wheel pop-up, the only way to dismiss it is by tapping the X in the upper right, which is not so easy to see/reach while driving. I should also be able to dismiss the popup by tapping the Vehicle icon at the bottom to go back to the default vehicle screen. Same goes for the mirror popup. This is a UI behavior pattern people expect from using their phones.
6. I tried to program my garage door opener earlier today and the car locked up on the "Waiting for signal" page. The only way out of it was to contact customer care, who walked me through the hard reset sequence (X + microphone + brake), then it worked the 2nd time. Also ... customer care mention that it helps to have the frunk open while programming the garage door opener.
7. For some reason my GPS position froze when I parked the car earlier today and refused to update my location when I drove away. I called customer care again, who walked me through the hard reset sequence again, but that didn't fix it this time. I parked the car at a friend's house, came back 20 minutes later, and the GPS was working again. (Note that I've had to hard-reset the car twice within the first 24 hours I owned it!)
8. The speedometer is in the perfect location ... until I turn on the cruise control, at which point the speedometer moves up and parks itself directly behind the top of the steering wheel. This means I have to move the wheel up just to monitor my speed whenever the cruise control is on. I think a better UI/UX experience would be to put the speedometer in a fixed location, since it is probably the most frequent thing the driver is monitoring, and put the cruise control animation somewhere else.
9. The reverse-gear tilt-down mirror doesn't remember its location if you move it; it always goes back to the same predefined location. My seven-year-old 2018 Audi A6 remembers the reverse-gear mirror position...
10. The keyless entry via mobile key is finicky. Best I can figure out is that my iPhone needs to be unlocked with the Lucid app running for best results. If the phone is locked, or the app isn't running, the car doesn't notice it. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the car, the iPhone, or both.
11. My right-side blind spot indicator only lights up for maybe 10% of the cars I pass. Maybe a calibration issue?
12. There is a lag (maybe 0.5 seconds) when changing the cruise control speed setting. In other words, if you press up or down on the speed select knob you won't see it updated on the panel for about half a second. This isn't too bad except when you're trying to hold down the knob to adjust the set speed up or down by 5 MPH, then the delay causes you to hold the knob longer than you need to, which results in accidentally increasing/decreasing the speed by another 5 MPH. The only solution is to stick to the +/- 1 increment (which is tedious), try to time the control knob perfectly (difficult and distracting), or set the car's speed and then "set" the speed once the desired speed has been reached.
13. Speaking of the steering wheel knobs, they're a bit too difficult to press up and down, making adjustments tedious. They look super cool though, I'll give them that.
14. I wish the right side of the upper display was curved toward the driver just a wee bit more so I didn't have to reach so far to interact with Apply CarPlay.
15. My wife reports that phone calls from the car make me sound like I'm talking through a tube. I switched my phone's audio from CarPlay to the phone's built-in microphone and that worked perfectly, so it seems to be related to the car's microphone.
Even with all that the car has been super fun! I will add that Lucid Customer Care has been very friendly and helpful.
