After hours and hours reading forums and watching videos about Lucid, I am still not very confident to pull the trigger. My biggest gripe is about the build quality . After reading many posts, my conclusion is that the vast majority of the issues are minor and are taken care by Lucid . However, the closest service center from me is 625 miles away. It is very hard to asses reading posts about the percentage of the new units affected by one or more minor issues but it does not seem to be very low. So my I would like to count with the honesty of this group. I understand that most of you are in love with the car and really want Lucid to thrive but I would kindle ask an honest and as unbiased as possible answer .

If you know what you know today, would you still buy a Lucid Air living over 600 miles away of a service center ?

Thanks !!!

I am 200 miles from the nearest Service Center in San Francisco area in the north and Los Angeles area in the south. I only needed to stop by once for a minor cosmetic issue.

I don't mind traveling 200 miles to a metropolitan area once in a while with my long-range Lucid. In your case, I would want to know about mobile services in your area before buying one.

Might be OK if you're retired or otherwise have a very flexible schedule, but if you have a typical 40+ hour work week that would be a no-go for me. This is not a bash on Lucid, this would apply for any car I own and I do my own maintenance.

Not retired , two young kids and quite a lot of business travels :(

I love the car and the team at Lucid, but unless they offer to pick up and drop off the car along with a loaner, it would be a no for me.

Plus the thought of adding 1200 miles to a car just for a service / warranty repair is a little insane

I’m about 300 miles to nearest center and have only had to deal with them once - they offered a covered delivery truck but I took the opportunity to drive!! Picked up a loaner for a week enjoyed every bit of it. Granted I may like driving more than most but yeah, I’d do it again. The mobile tech is good and when a visit was required, they offered to pick it up

that's ~7.5hrs * 4 = 30hrs of driving to/from the service center. that's a lot of driving. i would probably skip purchasing one unless their mobile service can come to my place.

to add more context: i have been to the service center 3-4x a year since owning my AGT but most of the time, it's for minor non-blocking issues. i live 20mins away from one so i don't mind going there. for the only blocking issue (i can think of right now), Lucid sent mobile service to me to fix it.

Ideally you can find other owners in your service area to ask how the mobile service is. I'm only about 65 miles from the closest service center,. That's not a huge distance to drive, but it is a half day away from work that has to be planned. But in the almost two years I've had the car, I've only driven up there for the 24K service. Everything else has been handled by the mobile tech, who is absolutely wonderful. Getting your car fixed or updated at your house is pretty cool!

I am 800miles from a the nearest service center, which is Seattle. Mobile service has been reliable and just exemplary in every way. I personally have had only minor issues with my vehicle.
My answer to your question would be a resounding yes!

I've had the car 10 months and 16,000 miles. It has not visited service or required mobile service. However if I was 600 miles away I'd be concerned, things happen.

On my other vehicles I do all my own repairs. My biggest concern is the lack of published repair/parts information available for these cars. If Lucid provided this (as Tesla does) I'd be more open to buying a car if I lived far from service.

The service center I visit is 3 miles from my job site. I'm at 18,000 miles and have taken my car there after work a handful of times for minor issues but the most serious is repeated frunk issues. Most recent service I've had to have my car towed to service. I love my car, but knowing what I went through, if the service center was 600 miles away I wouldn't go through with the purchase.

A primary reason for getting my Lucid in the 1st place was the fact that my closest service center (Chicago Goose Island in my case) was only 22 miles away AND when we winter in Phoenix area, the Scottsdale service center is close-by as well. Both those 'features' of proximity sold me on it. While I've not yet had the need to use the Scottsdale service center, I'm thankful to have Goose Island nearby. To be fair, everything I've had addressed at the service center has been either cosmetic or annoying noises (squeeks, rattles, wind noise) along with some trim issues and never a problem with drivetrain. Actually when the car was only 5 months old we drove 1800 miles without a hitch, then another 900 miles while in AZ area and 1800 miles back home to Chicago. We will be doing that trip/drive again this December (down) and March (return). I honestly just don't see myself buying if the closest service center is 600 miles away.

My situation and experience might be relevant. I'm 500 miles away from the closest service center. Most of the issues I've had have been handled by mobile service. And, like many people here, I've had great results and experiences with mobile service. So, I recommend you try to talk to other owners locally and see what mobile service is like in your area.

The only times the car has been to a service center, Lucid transported it as the visits were necessitated by warranty covered repairs and the car was undriveable.

I am replying to your specific comment because I drive a lot. Over 47k on my car in 18 months (and obviously that doesn't count the miles put on other vehicles/rentals). So, although I don't have young kids anymore, you don't have to be retired or have a completely open schedule to do this.

In answer to your original question, yes, I'd do it again. But I'd have more realistic expectations than I did initially.

I think you are getting a solid perspective from owners here. My closest service center is 250 miles away. Mobile service is fantastic, but there is usually a wait for an appointment for relatively minor issues. For example, my TCU, which is used to get a car connected to cell or WiFi data services, is down, and I can't reach the vehicle through an app or use a built-in map with traffic data, etc. It is a simple fix - tech will reset the TCU by power cycling it, but it is not something I can do myself. My appointment is mid-next week. If I had a service center nearby, this would have been an easy and quick fix instead of living without connectivity for more than a week.

Thanks !!!
I’m about 500 miles away from Chicago. Lucid has come to my house and retrieved the vehicle twice and also been here for remote service 3 times (all in the first 11 months of my lease). Lucid service has been phenomenal. My point of view is there is a price for being an early adopter. Things are not perfect up and down the supply chain. If you can’t afford to take the Lucid out of service for a week or two at a time then wait on your purchase. If you have the luxury of alternative wheels while Lucy is getting fixed you are fine. It’s an amazing feat of engineering overall.

I've only ever had service once, for a flat tire, and the mobile tech was great (albeit a day after the tire popped). Lucid called a tow, and a ride for me, both to take me home and the car home.

I've had the car for 11.5 months.

I've only done about 1,000 miles on mine so far, but no problems. For one of my other non-Lucid vehicles, the nearest service center was (until recently) a six hour drive away in San Diego. I had to get service done a couple of times and did that by planning a weekend away. The dealership was very accommodating and always let me plan when to drop it off and when to pick it up. Early on I did have a problem with the air conditioning system and they arranged to pick it up and truck it to the dealer. I don't know if Lucid would do the same?

NO. NEVER.

I live a mile away from Lucid Studio/Service Center. It’s an amazing vehicle but my car has already been in the shop 3 times and required mobile service visit twice, for minor issues and fixes in the 6 months of lease ownership since April 2024.
