- 2025 Lucid Air GT
Got the call on Friday that the week since my car was dropped off in Millbrae, needs to "be in the hands of the engineers, with an update this Wednesday and not sure when it'll be done". So another week w/o my car. A quick re-cap of my less than 2k miles new car that I have spent less than 3 weeks of driving.
NONE of these issues are present in the my loaner car (22 Air Dream-P running OS v2.5.0 w/ 20k miles). granted the 1,111hp is f'ing amazing.. but you just get in, and drive. everything works. It's near perfection. It restored my faith in how amazing the Lucid Air is as a Gt car and how beautiful it is to drive. But how can this be? Yes.. i totally get the software+car compound.... but you there's a fleet of cars that are damn near identical... are the micro elements in the hardware between car build dates so different, that the software gets in a loop of of confusion as it encounters change? ....or, did they spend too much time w/ the software engineers getting the Gravity ready for release, that updates on the Air hardware manufacturing got ahead of the software?
Anyway.. that's my week(s) in review again. Torturing a 22' Dream for another week is going to be fun.. but it's not my own car to settle in with.
- ambient cabin light only works after soft reboot, and then fails again as soon as you get out of the car and back in
- DreamDrive HA behaves erratically, swerving in lanes
- constant sensor and radar fails (always from right) every time driving (rain or no rain)
- 'no key detected' errors since app update (and yes, the new .1 update one too.. we think confusion w/ key fob). had to completely re-create my 'user' at one point to get back into the car after getting locked out. (ALWAYS CARRY YOUR VALET CARD!).
- constant camera failures (in the worst possible times) and will fails on EVERY drive. Will always need to reboot the car to sometimes get them working again... and often doesn't fix the issue.. but what does, is leaving the car alone overnight. I can tell it's going to start failing when I would use the turn indicator and the camera view would start to have long delays in appearing on the dash screen, eventually not turning on at all and just flashing the side of the dash red like it always does.. over a black screen. Once that all happens, I can be assured that all cameras have failed..and only an overnight 'chill' makes them come back.
- A/C malfunctioned in heavy rain, fogging all windows in a matter of seconds while driving.
- insane latency with EVERYTHING that needs a button push.. example: wipers. trunk. frunk... unlocking to let someone in. ..all the fun stuff. Even after a reboot.. i can sometimes press the frunk button a few times before it actually does anything.
- stereo sometimes plays audio only from the center dash speaker (corrects after reboot)
- All under OS 2.5.3 that was installed since I took delivery. Just saw on Friday that they updated to 2.5.4, and within hours of seeing that notification from the app.. I got the call that they need my car another week. Hmmm!
