Has anyone else had their steering wheel replaced due to a nonfunctional hands-on sensor in order to fix DriveAssist never being available, and then had the issue recur?

My car was delivered with DriveAssist working fine. A few weeks into ownership it went off to the SC to address a few things (transported the 300 miles there and back), and returned with DriveAssist no longer working.

I knew from others on here that it was probably a bad hands-on sensor on the wheel. Fast forward another month or so, and my car is back at the SC for this and a few other issues. They confirmed it was the wheel, replaced it, and took it on a test drive to confirm it was fixed (according to the service report). A week or so later the car is transported back to me, I take it for a drive to test it out, and DriveAssist is still never available (ie the icon never shows up on the pilot display) as if they had never fixed it.

I believe that they did in fact fix it while it was there, so now I’m extremely curious how and why it keeps breaking. It almost seems like transporting it back to me somehow causes it to stop working.

After 3 weeks of ownership, I had a 2 page bullet point breakdown of SO MANY issues (seems mostly software related i would assume) that prompted a service tech to come down to me to scope it out (which also included programming a 2nd key fob that i purchased) - among the many issues was continuous malfunction of 'drive assist' and adaptive cruise control with display pop-ups stating malfunction and to have the vehicle serviced. The tech arrived (super nice and knowledegable) - plugged his laptop into my diagnotstic port and cleared some error codes. For about 1 day and half, all was running w/o malfunction until they emerged again. The take-away from the tech was that several hardware items (steering wheel touch pads, lower pilot panel control buttons, charge port door) had to be replaced and that he'd schedule a swap of a loaner for mine while being worked on. I knew coming into this purchase that there were software issues but, the magnitude of issues is shocking! Mostly not safety issues though I had one incident in which all the cameras malfunctioned including turn signal display, backup camera and all else. Oh PLEASE drop an OTA to lower my blood pressure!

I have had my steering wheel replaced three times in the first four months of ownership for DD issues. The issues are always it would not engage or disengage.

My SC does not have a final answer on whether it is software related or hardware so they just keep replacing the steering wheel. In the last two weeks I have started had issues with it again. Seems to be the current software is degrading as myself and others have reported many issues, recurring and new in the last couple weeks.
