MagSafe wireless charging for Gravity

Ok, had a little play with the wireless charging. I used a voice coil and multimeter along with some phones. I won't speculate on why it's designed like this but it is.

This is on a Nov-Dec build on Version 3.3.20
1. Wireless charging is available on both pads upon entering the car, then shuts off about when my profile finishes loading from having pressed the brake pedal. This is about when you'd put the phone on the pad and wonder why it's not charging.
2. After 3 minutes +/- a few seconds later both chargers start up. Verified this 3 times, getting out locking, getting back in. Didn't try any other combinations.
3. The sweet spot on charger location is about 2mm or 3/32inch in diameter. The location is thankfully horizontally located in the horizontal center of each phone pocket. Front to back however, the locations are to the rear of center and about 71mm or 2 13/16inch from the rear radius of the phone pocket. This means the iPhone 15 Pro Max with 79mm or 3 1/8inch from bottom to center with no case is way out of the sweet spot. Amazingly it still charges but gets even hotter than usual, as expected. A shorter iPhone 12 with case is closer.

Here's some pictures. The center of the ring is the sweet spot. Both phones work best shoved all the way to the bottom.

Wow, that's a thorough technical analysis
Thank you

(love my iPhone 12Mini and have been reluctant to upgrade as I don't want a big ol' honkin' phone so this is good news!)

I think only one car in the USA has Qi2 magnets embedded.
More to come though!

The magnets won't help if the charger coil is too close to the wall for the phone. Guess Lucid didn't realize that people that can afford a Gravity probably didn't compromise on their phone either.

Many Android phones have Qi2 charging also. No need to be elitist.

Is anyone using the Gravity charging pad with a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra? It's a big phone and I'm having trouble getting it to charge on the pad, vertically or horizontally. Wondering if it might work with a different protective case on it.
I do and it works perfectly. Just make sure you have it pushed all the way back, towards the rear seats. Charges nice and fast. I also have a case on mine and still works fine with the case.

It doesn't have magnets, not sure what he's talking about. The charger in the Gravity is a Qi style charger, not a magnetic one at all.
ah, yes, you are correct... it was the ridges on the side that were pushing my phone into the correct spot each time and my phone happened to be exactly the correct size!
