Lucid will not offer heads-up display on Gravity GT (for now)

Just got the same mail also. The HUD was a key feature for me, I liked the ambient lighting, and the power outlets were an “okay, why not” part of this package. The Dream Edition has a bunch of stuff that I simply don’t want to have and certainly don’t want to pay for just to configure away for no compensation. This will probably cause me to cancel my order.

I keep getting this feeling that they are doing everything to push people away from buying the damn Gravity. As if they know they have a problem but instead of admitting it are trying to turn knobs to purposely slow the inflow of orders.

The lease numbers, the HUD...

I mean I'm for sure waiting a year at this point. If they ring me up and ask me to put my order into production, it will be a resounding No.

I bet its just not ready for showtime both development wise / supply chain. Just like DDPro wasn't when air first came out (honestly still isn't quite there). Maybe looking to avoid customer dissatisfaction.

I have to agree this is an upsetting and obvious ploy by Lucid to get more people to pony up to the DE. But instead of adding more nice touches to the DE to increase its appeal, they're taking stuff away from the GT... not a good approach after specifically showing that option in press cars, in the current demo cars, in the new showroom GTs...

Very upsetting.

And I guarantee it will be back in the future, because there's no possible way they put in the R&D and design work for the HUD just for a limited run special edition car. It will certainly be added as an option package later. Reminds me of how when the Air Touring came out, you couldn't get the massage seats. If you wanted that, you had to step up to the GT. Then a year later, it came back as an a la carte option.

But instead of pushing me now towards really considering the DE, it's turning me off of the whole thing, and making me go back to the strategy of not buying a Gravity in the first year of production... let them do things like this to make as much money off the "must-have-it-first" crowd, then as demand slows, there will be both improvements in the hardware, better fit-and-finish from the factory, and more options like this being made available again.

The right thing to do to get the sweet spot of refined features is to wait. I didn't do that for Air as i got the first batch of Tourings off the line, but knew what i was getting myself into. I'd like a lot of 2025 Air enhancements and to have not had 8-10 service visits in the first year :)

Then again i wouldn't have experienced a groundbreaking new car in the same way.

I'm going to wait on Gravity either way to get to a more refined / complete state, always the intention. I already scratched the in it for the new company itch and i expect the Gravity experience to be a Lucid experience.

I bet the HUD will be back as a stand alone option in a month or two but with a price of $3300. The outlets will still be $600 and the ambient lighting will be $1800. This way they get to push a ~$ 3000 price increase over the old tech package without raising the base price.

Well, another option is to give credit for choosing the five seater, no hitch and 20 inch wheels on the DE version. I would probably do that.

If they allowed removing extra crap and just charging 14k extra I would consider DE. I don’t want 5k worth of maybe self driving. Not happening.

So does this mean you don’t have the option of dynamic ambiance lighting either? I see no mention of that as a substitute or standalone option. Plus they are telling me the supernova bronze is going to be a fall or winter color. WTF?
I got the same notification regarding the color. Not sure what I'm going to do, I really want Bronze because it seems it's going to be pretty rare.

Honestly, I’m probably going to cancel now. I really wanted an HUD in my next car and I can’t justify spending the extra money on a Dream edition. I also think it’s a little ridiculous that they’re taking the ambient lighting out which should be standard in my opinion. Disappointing but I’ll check out the vehicle in a couple years probably

If they said HUD was not available. Fine. I would be ok with that. But available on the DE and not the GT they let us order makes no sense.

I agree with the overall sentiment here. I'm glad I have a DE on order because no HUD in the GT would have been a deal breaker for me personally. My last 2 cars have had it and I've grown to really enjoy it and rely on it while driving. It clearly must be a supply chain issue rather than a technical issue if they are still putting it in the DE. I think their approach isn't well thought out. If they have a supply chain delay or pricing change from their supplier, they should have just sent out an email saying that option will delay the vehicle or increase the price (even if it's an unknown time frame or price difference)... I think people that really want that feature would just hold out--but now they are likely to just cancel instead of having the choice to wait.

Oh, and by the way, this clearly wasn't an organized plan as the website still shows the HUD option for the only available GT Spec (and still no "secret" Dream Edition). It should have been removed from the website when the email went out.

HUDs are a little overrated IMO (having had and not had) it's like a lower resolution display that's just a bit higher in your field of view.

Their tech vision was an augmented reality implementation. I find it hard to believe they will have anything like that given they haven't yet mastered Dream Drive.

I think dynamic ambient lighting is not available. Seems standard ambient is default, hope i am not wrong.

It's a real disappointment.
I'll be waiting for the HUD and Android Auto to appear on the Gravity GT, or NACS / Lidar / 800V to appear on the Polestar 3. I'm hoping for both around the end of the year.

Its odd. They still discussed about it in the media drives and showed it to few. What caused them to drop it ☹️
They want to move people to the DE. I see no other reason. Yet, we bought with the understanding of having the Tech package. I can live without HUD I suppose, never had it, wanted it, but can live without it. But eliminating lighting? Something countless high end vehicles have as standard? That's a cheap ass gut punch.

Really disappointed. Between this and the super high lease prices, I will be more than likely be canceling my order. See what happens as Lucid progresses with the Gravity and maybe order again when they are more organized. How could they not know when we ordered this would not be available? Sad.

Spend an extra $18k to get a $2600 feature? Less range. Don't need the extra power. Don't like the interior colors. No on the DE upgrade.

If the HUD hardware is in a GT, I'll keep my order. Hopefully it will be available in the future as an OTA upgrade.

Probably a problem with the supplier of the heads up display. Maybe they don’t perform to spec. Maybe it’s a volume issue the vendor cannot produce enough of them fast enough.

Remember back when the iPhone first came with a white glass back? Apple had problems making a white iPhone with a white glass back. So they pulled the color until they figured it out.

My guess is that they have enough heads up display parts to make 500 or so DE. So the limited DE run can get them.

When the parts become available they will offer it again as an option in the GT.

To me it’s very significant that they are going to have the Heads up display on the Dream. That means that they need to have to write and maintain software to support the display. They are not doing that for 500 units as a one and done.

I am not worried about this. We all love the Air. Many of us paid more for an Air than a loaded Gravity GT. No Air has a heads up display — not even a quarter million dollar Sapphire.
