Lucid Revealing a New Vehicle at Monterey Car Week

Derek Jenkins had teased in the past he was working on something off roady. I am hoping it’s an off road gravity. It would be a mistake imo for lucid to commit a lot of resources to a new platform (golf cart or new car or even a config of a midsize that’s not squarely a mass market vehicle) at this time.

Marc mentioned on Q2 earnings call that the midsize would be revealed early next year. This seems like a gravity based vehicle.

There were rumors of gravity truck, that would be nice surprise. Peter was reluctant to do truck citing a need for technology breakthrough in batteries for the electric to make sense.

The post on instagram teasing the reveal included #LucidGravity, so certainly either off-road accessories or some off-road edition aiming at R1S crowd.

Yeah, I do agree in that a Gravity Truck would be unlikely. It's already hard scaling up production for Gravity and Air, it's a whole lot more complexity to include a truck variant.

Nice catch! Yeah it seems more likely to be an off-road version of the Gravity, maybe lifted with bigger/wider wheels and off-roading accessories.

Well we do know that Lucid is planning three different midsize platforms. What if each small clip is one of each? They own Earth, Ocean and Space trademarks.

Pebble beach clip = ocean model (luxury)
Wheel clip = earth (more sporty)
Roof rack clip = space (off-road w/ extra storage)
I’m no marketing expert, but calling a car Ocean at this point would be a very bad idea. Just ask Fisker.

And I’m well on the record already for this, but Earth would be the dumbest name for a vehicle in automotive history. I refuse to believe they will call any car Earth. Anything is possible, but so far naming things is something Lucid has actually been good at. I’d hate to see them break their streak.

“Which car should we take to the beach today?”

“Let’s take the Earth.”

Said no one. Ever.
