Lucid partnership

Not my opinion; stock says this is good news, now.

There is also a reverse stock split announced.

In any way does it "cheapen" the brand to hail a Lucid with your Uber app?
I mean.... 🤣

It will be part of executive stuff, think corporate accounts for luxury Airport limos like Uber XXL or black. So not as much of a commodity. I mean noone wants to spend any large amount of time in the tin-sh*t can 2 seater that is a cybercab.
The Waymo Jaguars are pretty nice. Not nearly as nice as a Gravity but still.

I was a bit surprised to hear it would be Gravities. Seems like a good use for the upcoming midsize, but perhaps that is in the future as well.

"We asked Lucid if the Uber robotaxi fleet will also include Air sedans. We were told it will be Gravity SUVs to start, with the option to “consider future vehicles” (ahem, Mid-Size) as they become available. Uber said the 20,000 planned Lucid robotaxis will roll out in dozens of global markets over the next six years, beginning in a major US city in 2026."

Guessing the technology they're developing will be transferable to other Lucid vehicles as well, since they likely will share similar hardware.

With the stock now up 42% any thoughts from the group on what this means for the brand? In any way does it "cheapen" the brand to hail a Lucid with your Uber app?

I do see this strengthening sales down the road as this rolls out, which is vital....but how might it change perception? "High tech partnership" = Positive or "Lucid = rideshare to the airport" = negative.

the year 2021 was the time to speculate on LCID. It's over folks.

“Lucid said the 450-mile range for its Gravity vehicles should help cut costs and charge times while improving accessibility. Winterhoff said the program may eventually include future Lucid vehicles currently in development.”

I think it will most likely switch to midsize as things move along: Uber likes to have the less expensive options for people who commute or need to use the service daily.

Exciting news for Lucid! I don’t think it “cheapens” the brand at all. Uber the the luxury ride share app, if it was Lyft then I’d be worried.

Yeah, and I surmise if you speculated the same way about this little known company you’d be as wrong as you are about LUCID rn.

Yes, this is Apple. AAPL, I surmise you’d have said they were over back then… lol.

Scary stock chart be scary…. 😱

Stock price aside, I think one can safely assume fun this announcement that Nuro, and specifically Nuro Driver, will be the backbone technology for Lucid in regards to autonomous driving capabilities going forward.

the Air Pure would be an easy first start.

Interesting they are deploying a different sensor suite. I wonder if Lucid will gain any knowledge from NURO during the partnership with Uber.

IE: Lucid gets access to NURO sensor data, while simultaneously using their own sensors to collect data in parallel.

I'm sure we will get more details on how this will all work whcih I am curious about as well.

I think some of the tech will help, or at least industry experience, but with Lucid still hiring tons of ADAS software/hardware/etc. people, I doubt that it is completely going to give up on its in-house design, which has actually been really coming along recently. This partnership will most likely be compartmentalized from the consumer facing ADAS.

I don’t think people give Lucid credit where credit is due, their ADAS has come a long way, and now hands free coming up!

Also seems like these are super competitive job offerings for Newark software and hardware positions, if you know someone in the industry definitely give them the 411.

Tbh have some reservations about owning cars perceived to be "taxi" vehicles.
And to clarify, I don't think that's the direction this is going- the gravity is probably too expensive of a vehicle to ever reach the level required to be produced and out into service to be perceived that way.

I think it would be used more like how Escalades are used. To be safe just don't get a black one, because that will probably be the color Uber picks.
