Hello,

I just got a call for my appointment for a test drive with a Lucid Gravity Grand Touring.
22.05.2026, I can pick up the car 10 am and have to drop off the car at 17.30.
I asked to have the car empty so I can test charging right at the beginning to full, try to empty it and charge again.

Is there anything specific I should really look for while doing the test drive?
I have only been in one once in a Studio for about 1,5h to check out a bit instruments, seats etc.

Thanks for suggestions.

Depending on how the car is configured, test out the main options; Sanctuary + Massage + Surround Sound Pro (try to get some higher quality audio sample). Dynamic handling/parking/turning radius. Highway acceleration, cruising at speed etc. Change the ride heights and see how it feels in the different modes.

If it's optioned with the HUD be sure to turn it on and check that out, too.
I am very glad the car I test drove had it because otherwise I would have likely held out for a Tech Pack car in inventory and been extremely disappointed when I actually saw it in action after delivery.

Cool that you're getting the GGT for 7.5 hrs but you might need more time if you wish to start from "empty" then do a 30+ minute DCFC charge to maybe 90% and intend to run it back down to something like 10%. And note that the charging curve will get exponentially slower above ~75% so you'll be hanging out examining the interior etc. rather than driving the thing.

If you really intend to significantly charge twice you'll need to drive pretty fast all day, as you'll have up to >300 miles of range. Don't do anything unsafe / illegal but stomping the accelerator in a few different situations will introduce you to the rather absurd capabilities of the car and could kill efficiency to help burn through battery. Though if it were me I wouldn't prioritize a second DC charge -- I'm not sure the learnings will be worth what you're donating to the dealer in electrons.

Also don't forget that the battery should be pre-conditioned for appx 45 min before you do that first charge. If you set the second charge station as your destination at the end of your test loop, the car will automatically trigger the preconditioning. Without preconditioning the charging speeds will be compromised.

Thanks for your input. I asked in the beginning for an empty gravity because I was told only to get 4 hours test drive. Normally would be 1.5h.
But you maybe right that I should rather ask them to have the gravity 100 percent and so I can run down to 10% or so or even lower and then do full charge.
I know I was asking for a weekend. But apparently the demand for test drives is still,so high they 7.5h is max.

I will ask them to have the car full then..thanks for the hint!

I believe a session on the track could help you run it down. :D

There are many reviews and YouTube videos on charging. With such limited time, charging it yourself adds very little value - you’ll just be sitting there watching the clock. I suppose you could get familiar with the software while charging, but make that the primary goal instead of seeing how long it takes to charge.

I’d recommend spending your time actually driving the Gravity. Try out the various drive modes (smooth, swift, sprint), regen settings, navigation, dream drive pro, music, massage seats, etc. over a wide variety of roads. The actual feel of the car and the driving experience is something you can’t get from reviews and YouTube.

Ya I second @Saksak's comment -- consider entirely skipping the charging part of your test drive. Not sure you'd really get much useful info in one charge session, and if it were me I'd keep the electricity funds in hand for a nice beer afterwards to digest the experience.

There are quite a lot of variables when charging; pre-conditioning, temperature, SoC at start / completion (AKA "charging curve), how many others are simultaneously charging (some chargers slow down when crowded) and what capacity does the particular network / charge station offer. Here in California Ionna is tops @400kW, followed by Electrify America (350kW) and Tesla (325kW.) But you'll only get something close to their max numbers for the first 15 or 20% of the battery; after that it always slows down -- in my GGT even the fastest chargers drop to <160kW when I hit 70% and half that at 90%. You can find charts & graphs online & on this forum that tell you what to expect with the curve.

Just go drive the thing. It's an amazing vehicle. And be confident that it is one of the longest range / fastest charging EVs on the market right now.

I live in Germany and have our unlimited roads haha so could drive the 250 km/h no issue..but that does not help actually because I I wanna experience the real milage possibilities in normal driving mode instead of racing :)

I have send an email to have the car full based on all your feedback here. Thanks to everyone.
I will call 2 days before again to make sure they do charge it to 100% 😅

I get a charge card from them sonit wouldn't be my funds to charge 😅

We do have some good Ionity chargers out here with 400kw. And iam driving electric my etron for 4 years now but we have an ev since 2019. So I am obviously aware of the circumstances of charging. However it still should charge really good.
Unfortunately 7.5h is not that long to test drive and base a full decision on buying... With the Audi etron it was no issue. I bought without test drive because my dad had one for three years already so I knew what to expect.
And yes based on the stats lucid is really great. In Germany WLTP 748km. Usually realistic is 80 percent of it. Which means 600km or 370 miles depending on configuration. But that the bottom it should rally achieve... And here are many drivers who have not achieved that...

So just checked with lucid sales. It will be charged 100 percent.
Configuration is blocked until summer at least for gravity and until end of year for the air. They need to get rid of the high stock in Europe....I just checked and the similar car has max 67 percentage similarity..🙈

How did you get a 7.5 h block?

How did you get a 7.5 h block?
I asked for a weekend...they said 1.5h is usual I could get 4 hours.
Then waited for the call and appointment. The sales rep then said OK to full day which is apparently quite rare to get..

How is it in the states? What is the normal test drive period?

The 2 I took before buying mine were about 15 minutes each and with a Lucid associate riding with me. That was ly when demand was supposed to be high, now that they have unsold inventory they are likely more flexible.

Oh whoa 15 minutes that's nothing...🙈 I would not be able to buy lucid with just that show drive though..

Hello everyone, I canceled the test drive tomorrow due to other appointments.
However it is now even possible to get the car not only for 7,5 hours but also over night. That is something I will schedule next.
Nevertheless, I just made an appointment for a test drive with a Lucid Air Grand Touring, which I am allowed to get for more days. Even though I am not open for the AIr, due to the fact I would only be considering the Gravity, I would like to test drive this one.
I will pick up the Lucid Air Grand Touring on 29.05 4pm and can keep it until 01.06. 10 am. So I will have 3 full days/nights to test drive.
I will use this test drive for a route i was planning to do with a gravity if made possible. This will be roughly 1700 km next weekend. So I will check charging power and mileage. I geuss this will be good as well to see how Lucid is doing.
very nice of the sales rep of the Lucid Store!

?! What do you mean?! sorry :D

One thing to note is that while the Air is fully capable of charging at Tesla SC's, it maxes out only at 50kW, whereas the Gravity can go all the way up to 400+. If you're using CCS charging stations, the Air can pull 300+, FYI. Just don't want you to be surprised/alarmed. FWIW, the Gravity has been a phenomenal roadtripper for me, having done 800+ mile (each way) and the ability to use any and all fast chargers at high charging speeds makes it a breeze. You'll also get better mileage (and starting range) in an Air as its smaller and more aerodynamic, which is covered in numerous threads on here. For reference, we have both an Air GT and Gravity GT, and love them both. Enjoy the test drive!
