Lucid Gravity 3.4.0 software update

Not to sound impatient myself, but it shouldn’t take this long to push an important update like this to such a small number of vehicles.

Lucid said it would be rolling out over a few weeks. It's been less than a week so far.

But yes, I understand the need for the phased roll out. We will all get it within a week or two.

Am I the only one still without the new update? I haven't seen anyone post that they got it today. 🤷🏻‍♂️
do you have Wi-Fi on in the car? My update popped up when I turned it off within a few minutes.

(and I think they finally fixed that with this update too.)

No, never. I learned long ago with my Air that wifi causes too many headaches. Just drew a short straw on this update.

That’s absurd that they kept replacing it. No wonder the Service Centers are overwhelmed. Doing pointless work when software was most likely the problem.
Yes, but only one of the reasons they are overwhelmed.

In my experience, with my car at the SC for just short of 4 weeks, the SC tech folks still seem to be getting up to speed on diagnosing problems. Not sure if this a lack of training, tools, or both (likely, IMHO), but everything had to go back to Engineering for recommendations, usually looping back multiple times before getting a resolution. I'm sure that this is partially a consequence of having an SDV (Software-Defined Vehicle) with a lot of vertical integration, but also Lucid has not planned well for support and service, it would seem. Perhaps they have not yet implemented this "feature." I asked if Engineering has a field support team, and was told they did, but it is not very big. They must be massively overloaded.

Another example: I was on the phone with the SC about a problem I was having and tried to give them timestamps for the errors so they could remotely pull the logs. The response was, "We can't do that. You have to come into the SC for us to get the logs." I was shocked. I've come to understand that there are a few things they can observe remotely, but not the full system logs as Tesla does. This is really short-sighted, especially given Gravity has a wholly new software stack.

Lucid needs to get its act together on SC capacity and efficiency well in advance of the release of Midsize or the SCs will come to a grinding halt, and we will all be screwed.

In one of Emad's interviews, he mentioned that they replaced a lot of steering wheels unnecessarily. I, for one, always thought it was a software issue because the right side worked great on everyone's car - no one ever complained about the right side. Additionally, the behavior was inconsistent, working well sometimes and poorly at other times. Interrupt management, I suspect. Regardless, fixed now and very happy about that!

When our steering wheel was replaced the issues decreased 90% instantly. So there definitely is a hardware issue that has affected at least some Gravities. We still have some issues, and the 3.4.1 update appeared to make no difference to our steering wheel button issues.

Overall this update does seem to have fixed something like 80% of the issues... we're already about 400 miles into 3.4.1 so we've had a fair bit of experience with it. We got a phone app notification that our key fob battery is low (we had to hit the manual unlock button after a day of skiing in the cold which lowered the fob voltage) but being notified of it is so much better than just having a dead battery.

Having mentioned the big improvement, I feel I can now mention the things I'm still seeing wrong with the car. I previously haven't bothered as everyone knew the biggest bugs already.
My priority list of things to fix, with our Gravity, are:
  1. The cameras dying. We keep getting error messages about the cameras and they don't show up on the screen, frequently. It has already happened 4 times since the 3.4.1 update requiring a reboot. Is this just our car needing a fix, or does this happen to others as well?
  2. Driver profiles behavior isn't fixed. When I change to my profile it usually goes to easy entry mode and doesn't move the seat to my position until I manually move the seat and hit restore to actually move the seat to my profile position.
  3. Wipers, when there is a snowy/messy road. The front wipers leave a mess right in front of the driver's face. I'm not sure if software can fix, but perhaps the washer fluid timing relative to the wiper timings can be improved.
  4. (this one is just us) we've been waiting a month for a replacement middle row seats... currently have a stuck seat. Also waiting on the updated version of the roof rack pads so we can use the roof rack.
  5. (misfeature) turning indicator automatic cancelation inconsistency. When changing lanes the indicators sometimes cancel and sometimes don't. Seems independent of dreamdrive usage. Often I think it won't cancel so I manually cancel, only to then be playing ping pong when the indicators start showing the other direction and I need to cancel that. This should be more consistent... and maybe the autocancelation on lane change should happen earlier (when halfway into the new lane) so I don't manually cancel when it is in the process of autocanceling.
  6. Steering wheel buttons still sometimes don't work for me.
  7. Dreamdrive lane keeping on freeways isn't as good as Rivian. Due to snowplows and roadwork the lane lines aren't as clear on I70 in Colorado as elsewhere so I'm acutely aware of lane keeping ability. If Lucid is listening... come get lots of training data on I70 between Golden and Vail.
  8. Then the missing features of PaaK and AA/Carplay.
Btw, I don't know if anyone else has run low on wiper fluid yet (we drive more in snow than most) but it does warn you when running low with an in car notification, and at that stage you can add about 1.3 gallons to the wiper fluid tank. Nice and large!

Same here.

Florida seems to get a lot of Lucid stuff later than elsewhere. We've been waiting over six months for the second key fob that was promised to Gravity Dream Edition buyers. They have been sent to some owners elsewhere, but the Miami Service Center says they still have no date on when they're getting them for their customers.
I received mine from the Roswell, GA SC a few weeks ago.

I understand that’s what Lucid said. My response is it shouldn’t take a few weeks to send out an OTA update to a few thousand vehicles.

Mine went low for washer fluid a few weeks ago and it alerted me in car. It is a huge tank in there which is awesome. Just a note, I am using the rainX (all season) washer fluid and it has made some noticeable improvement (tho nothing great) in wiping and cleaning. We'll see come spring/summer with the bugs down here in the south if it keeps up, but winter mess has gotten a bit better. I still think the blades just suck tho.
I am with you on the turn indicator. Since day one, I have always had to play the guessing game for when they turn off or not. No improvement on this update, so still will be standing by for some improvement there.

Washer fluid... I'm a little hesitant on using the RainX washer fluid when the fluid dispenser is part of the wiper (rather than the traditional ones that squirt from the hood). I know for the Cybertruck Tesla advised not to use the RainX one, believing it could cause issues. Please let us know if it ends up causing any issues on the Lucid!

I think with the turn indicator because it used to be the 20th worst issue that likely nobody complained or worked on fixing it. The good news is with all the fixes that the same problem is now in the top few issues.

Interesting - I used RainX washer fluid on 7 years of Teslas and all other cars without problems. A search indicates it involves wiper chatter or autowiper problems (Tesla's autowipers had problems WAAAY worse than fluid...). I would sure want to make sure it doesn't impact wipers that distribute many nozzles across the blade and perhaps clog up the individual nozzles as opposed to just the windshield having hydrophobic attributes.

After installing both this software update and fob update, all my cards and the fob have lost their respective driver profiles!
Of course I have tried the full reset a couple of times (initiating from 2 different profiles) with no success
Any recommendations please?

Do i just delete the fob from its owner profile and then try to reinstall? Is this straightforward?
Thanks!

For those still waiting for the 3.4.1 update, I hope it comes through for you soon.
Here's one Redditor who says maybe Lucid rolled it out too fast.

You truly cannot please everyone.

Lucid said it would be rolling out over a few weeks. It's been less than a week so far.
A few weeks? Do they have some intern who clicks a button and waits the download to complete, then clicks the button for the next vehicle?
We ain't talking that many Gravitys - but if we are, why isn't the stock up?

A sw update and the subsequent roll out.
Anybody can make an update, but can they roll it out!?

Some would say it's like the car reservation followed by the car not available.

Ask Jerry Seinfeld.

Sounds like a hardware problem. No problems for me.

Are you saying the washer fluid comes out at the wrong time? Or the wipers don’t work well? Perhaps change wiper blades (I know, we shouldn’t need to in a new car)?

  1. (misfeature) turning indicator automatic cancelation inconsistency. When changing lanes the indicators sometimes cancel and sometimes don't. Seems independent of dreamdrive usage. • Small click (first detent) : Signal automatically ends after 3 blinks.
  • DDP: Signal automatically ends after lane change or cancel.
  • Full click: Auto cancel after turn, requires manual cancel for lane change
  • You can cancel the signal when the blinkers are on by a small click in the same direction as the blinker. This will prevent you from ping-ponging the blinker.
  1. Steering wheel buttons still sometimes don't work for me.!

Four days of driving for me with perfect buttons. Are you pressing in the right place? You can’t press on the edge, as it’s not an actual button but rather a special section of the capacitive touch pad.

This could be an actual steering wheel hardware issue or some other problem, especially since your are having your camera issues, as well.

I am having this same issue as well as “video recording unavailable” when I put mine into park. I have reported it as a bug to Lucid but perhaps it is a hardware issue. If you are on Lucidtracker.app I added each of the variations I am seeing in that bug tracker with more details and pictures.

Got my first glitch on the way to the service center this afternoon
It disengaged from dream drive and gave the adaptive headlight and sensor warnings
That said it’s been the first time in 2 weeks it’s been warm enough to have some snow melt and the cars ahead of me were flinging salty water on my car so maybe the sensors were getting blocked
