Has anybody figured out how to force the 3rd row AC on when there’s 2 car seats?

Was driving in Palm Springs over the weekend and the 3rd row got pretty hot. Had to turn the entire car (1st and 2nd rows) to 10 speed just to get enough airflow to the back.

This is pretty dangerous if you ask me…

Have 2 days of driving with update, above all else we now get "can detect your face" error constantly with sunglasses on. Only 75% of the time with sunglasses off, and then back to constantly at night. It is VERY annoying!
Until that is fixed, we probably are going to drive the Tesla's...it's that annoying!
I'm surprised there is no other reports of this, so I'm wondering if the update broke our interior camera or something??

Did you try cleaning the camera on the steering wheel? I haven’t tried with sunglasses, but mine works OK with 3.4.1. It also worked fine with 3.3.20. It is a little naggy, but I deserve it when it nags (DDP engaged and me not paying attention to the road). I take the scolding as punishment . I’m breaking my bad habit of looking away from the roadfor long periods.

Not excusing the radio not working at all, but for a work around, why not just use your phone and Bluetooth? XM has an app (it actually has more channels in the app than the radio) and any other music service does as well. So tho not ideal at all, you can still listen to what you want without too much extra hassle.

That is a potential backup when the car refuses to get internet, but that means opening the phone while driving and messing with the SXM (or other) app to find what I want to play. And lose the easy ability to channel surf as I tend to like to do. But if someone else is in the car I can have them do it until they figure out a way to get dependable internet in this thing.

When alone, the easier backup for now is just to switch over to FM and play a local radio station. It's retro (I can pretend it's 1985), but at least I just hit a couple of buttons on the console to get to it more safely. I can see I'm gonna have to favorite some local radio stations in the Gravity. I haven't needed to do that in a car in years. Get to hear all those commercials I've been missing!

Wow,.... you guys have WAY more faith in these self driving systems than I do (& I may be in the minority on here; IDK). I've got too many friends with stories about how their Tesla tried to kill them or ended their car up in a ditch or stopped in the middle of a busy intersection!!

I aim to drive this 6,000lb beast and as the driver, do the responsible thing and maybe not be taking my eyes off the road. Driving is scary enough w/o this sort of blind faith!
I guess for me there's just insufficient data to say these systems are all that safe.
The theory is that they're less accident prone than all the idiots that managed to pass a California Drivers test but tell that to any number of SF residents that have seen robo-taxis dragging pedestrians, disabled by simply putting a traffic cone on the hood, or majorly clogging up traffic all over the city stalling out when there's a power outage.

I see idiots on Hwy 17 (think curvy mountain road, nearly 1845ft elev. coastal mountain pass with the 1/3 the entire Monterey Bay commuting to the Silicon Valley each morning) and they're shaving, using a laptop, doing their make-up, reading,...you name it while supposedly "driving" on what was the state's deadliest highway before the divider was put in and think whoa, (as I downshift and pass them)...my life has gotta be worth more than THAT

I'm not a luddite or against progressive innovation by any means. Just not sold yet on confidently turning over control of such a heavy vehicle to a glitchy-a$$ computer at highway speeds.

Do people actually want creep mode? One pedal driving’s so nice, what is the advantage of not using Hold and choosing Creep?

I'm my Air there's a difference between Creep mode and turning off auto hold (rolling I think it's called?)

I despise creep mode.

I love rolling mode (no-auto-hold). If I let off the brake pedal the car is effectively in neutral. I hate auto hold (or 1 pedal driving in my wife's GV60) because whenever I'm trying to drive slowly into my garage or slowly approach a parking curb, it often stops before I want it to and I have to press too hard on the gas before the auto brake releases then the car lurches forward. it's infuriating.
I nearly hit my garage door or slammed into parking curbs multiple times before I gave up and turned it off. I'm much happier now with it in rolling mode.

Some vehicles updated in the tracker today but the progress has seemed to have slowed down compared to the weekend. Sample size is still quite small to determine anything solid though.

As someone who was once one of those idiots in the 90s when I was young and dumb - commuting from La Selva Beach to Fremont in a manual car, with a double whopper in one hand, eating fries, sipping my drink and steering with the other hand, (it's a miracle I survived that commute really - but I'm no longer anywhere near that dumb) I concur that I don't trust any of the self driving yet. I want my hands on the wheel and my eyes paying attention, because there's a good chance the current version of young me is on the road somewhere nearby.

There are definitely idiots who do stupid stuff, whether it be with self-driving or something else, such as racing on city roads. Idiots give self-driving a bad name. I would also say DDP is less capable but more predictable than Tesla FSD.

Human drivers get into accidents and kill people all the time - about 1 death every 16 minutes. It’s so common we don’t bat an eye. However, when Waymo has an accident, it’s major news. The reality is that Waymo is over 5 times safer than a human driver. Tesla, on the other hand, is a different story. Their accident rates are higher than humans. I’ve ridden in Waymo but I won’t get into a Tesla robotaxi.

ADAS systems, when used properly, is safer. In fact, some insurance companies have lower premiums for cars with ADAS. Like any system, though, we should fully understand what it can and cannot do.

It’s not blind faith that I’m putting into DDP. I’ve learned the limits of the system. I’ve probably driven over 1.5k miles under DDP and know what to expect (I’ve also used Tesla autopilot for 10 years). DDP is great at staying in lane and keeping distance when lanes are unambiguous, from straight to moderate curves where you don’t need to slow down. You need to take over on sharp curves, merge/off-ramps, or whenever cars cut you off.

Even with eyes off the road for five seconds, if you know the road is straight and your hand is on the steering wheel, you’ll know if the car does something it shouldn’t do and you can override in an instant. It’s under these conditions that it’s safe to briefly look away for navigation, music adjustment, or whatever.

Personally I get the cant detect my face warning was when I was either reaching over the wheel to grab the corner (bad driving habit that Ive been correcting) and hence blocking the sensor or in parking situations where the wheel is turned sideways for a bit and hence blocking the sensor

Same here. My best solution is to ignore the warning entirely - I don't pay attention to most warnings that are intermittent, meaning they go away on their own. Persistent warnings, now THEY get my attention!

While I haven't seen the data fully analyzed, my guess is the comparison to broader averages is deceiving. For instance, self-driving cars are the latest and greatest, with all the sensors and computers. While the "overall average" includes a lot of 10, 20, 30+ year old cars in the mix. And a lot of cheaper cars, or base model cars, that don't have sensors and cameras.

If we narrowed the comparison to just well-spec'd newer cars that have the sensors and cameras (which also usually have built-in collision avoidance systems), I bet the gap narrows dramatically. The self-driving part may not really be all that much safer (if at all) compared to simply having the equipment to do collision avoidance and all the driver warnings.

I’m still waiting for an update. I’m impatient, and in this state, I encounter daily glitches and bugs that ruin my experience. I’ve had so many complaints about the software that I hope this update will make me fall in love with the car again.
