Fenske rightly lit up his Pure. I wonder if there is a hardware fault on one or more myriad of chips in the car.

In any event, my iPhone battery has been draining recently, and he mentioned that Lucid app was draining his battery. I just checked and since Monday, the app has literally 1 min of screen time over the period (I don't use the app much) yet its daily power consumption has been min/max of 11%/15% and avg of 13%. The highest of the prior 3 days was 3%. I updated the car to 2.9 but don't remember when. I don't recall updating the app on Monday, but maybe I did.

Either way, 13% power consumption for background activity is clearly not OK. Even worse is that the app/car wake performance when not close to the car is slow and unreliable even when on the home network.

Regards,

Tim

Mine has been over 20% since the last update or so, but only when I’m near the car (like at home with it).

Close the app when not in use. Open the app selector and swipe up to close the app. I don't know what is going on with it or why, but on IOS, this stops the app from draining the battery. You will still get alerts from the car just fine.

I understand the workaround, but Lucid QA should have caught and not allowed release of software that drains the battery in the background like it does. It is the second biggest user power behind Safari use which at ~4 hours of screen time is bad itself but at least its power consumption is based on active use.

Completely agree. Just passing on the work around. Maybe the update today in the app fixes it? Hopefully?

They clearly have a bug in their background task handling. Not super easy to track down, but it’s been there a long time.

I think it has to do with either the car or the phone not having connectivity, so it just keeps waking up in the background and trying to communicate. They need to add some sort of retry logic that gives up after 5 attempts or something. Rather than just letting it try over and over again indefinitely.

I haven’t had this issue in ages. But my car is parked in a spot where it gets connectivity. And my phone is rarely out of service as well. They need to test this with a car that’s placed in the middle of nowhere, or take a phone to the middle of nowhere.

I think you are on to something here, @joec . My car was parked in an area with zero AT&T service but my cell phone had reception. It kept saying “vehicle offline” in the Lucid app along with not being able to get directions out of there with the on board navigation.

The phone burned through 14% while I was at my kid’s soccer match for ~2hrs. I only realized it because my phone was hot to the touch and it was overcast and 60°.

I have this issue but my car has connectivity. The cell signal is only 1 bar, but WiFi is strong. But yeah, it really mostly happens when I’m home and sitting within 40 ft of the car

So what is the solution when the app states vehicle offline? Went on a 40 mile ride and arrived only to find out the car didn’t close/locked when I walked away. That’s when I noticed the vehicle offline on my app. Please advise.
