Lucid Air versus the BMW M3!

I'd love to see tuned, factory tuned, Lucid Air, which is the Sapphire :)

Interesting. They talk about launch mode on the BMW but not on the Lucid - are they using it?

I thought the same thing. The Lucid driver was clueless. I stopped watching half way through
 
This is almost the third time car wow and edmunds has sh*t on the Lucid. First, they didnt use the proper tyres and now not even launch control. I feel that had LC been used, the Lucid could have beat the M3 from the stop-go race.

Also, am I the only one noticing how weird the Lucid badges on overseas models are? The Saudi ones dont even have the logo on the light bar, and the European ones have it way smaller..
 
No Launch and no Sprint mode on the Lucid. This was a blatant lack of effort video to downplay EVs.
It ran a 10.2 quarter mile, which similar to what Hagerty and others have recorded on the DEP in Sprint mode etc. I think they were using sprint mode, but not launch mode as they had traction control off. I think the main issue is what Jason Cammisa explained in the Sapphire video; the Dream is limited by traction at the front wheels. You can see the front wheels slipping and rotating at different speeds to the rear wheels in the drone shots. IMO, the only unfair aspect of the video was the brake test; the Lucid performed excellently for how heavy it is but they criticised it as having terrible brakes.

Likely European regulations don't permit automakers to place objects that may cover the brake lights, so they have to move it to the trunk instead of on the lightbar, but I haven't actually read their regulations so this is just speculation. It makes sense though; otherwise you could just put brake light behind body panels etc. Also carwow's thumbnail images are always heavily edited (colour changed etc), and the logo is not that small in the actual video.

Actually, I rewatched those other races, and they all ran closer to 10 and some sub-9. I think Launch mode would have made the difference between a win and a loss for the Lucid in the Carwow video.
 
In this carwow review ... The yellow "traction control" icon actually looked like the Lane Keeping Assist. And fumbling for those settings seemed silly to me. The Lucid should be put into SPRINT mode, which will also have Launch Control; step on the brake, floor the accelerator, see the Blue Beer Launch Control, release the brake. I think this was a staged video to make the BMW win. I'm disappointed Carwow :confused:
 
This is BS as in the other YouTube video review the same host posted for the same car he has it in launch mode for the 0-60 segment
