OSLO, Norway, Jan. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Lucid Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: LCID), maker of the world's most advanced electric vehicles, announced that one of its vehicles achieved the longest range in this year's Norges Automobil-Forbund (NAF) Winter Test "El Prix." A Lucid Air Grand Touring' covered an incredible range of 520 kilometers during the coldest NAF Winter Test ever recorded, with temperatures dropping to minus 31 degrees Celsius on snowy roads. The journey was conducted without charging stops from Norway's capital, Oslo, to the scenic highlands, including city traffic, mountain roads, highways, and secondary roads. The next closest contender achieved a range of 421 kilometers.

Twice a year, NAF and Motor, Norway's leading automotive magazine, test the range and charging speed of electric cars under typical Nordic conditions. Known as "El Prix", this is the world's largest real-world EV evaluation. All vehicles begin the test fully charged and follow a route that includes urban areas, motorways, and rural roads at the end. The test starts in Oslo, continues through Lillehammer and Dombås, and the final stretch between Hjerkinn and Rondane Gjestegård is repeated until the vehicle can no longer maintain the speed limit. A total of 24 vehicles took part in this years' NAF Winter Test.

I can’t even get past 2.0 miles/kwh in Chicago weather of single digit temps w/ 20” wheels.

What is the interior cabin heat setting? Is the heat even turned on?

which car? I have a 26 Air w/20s, I set it at 76 degrees, and do literally nothing to improve effeciance and get about 3

granted it only gets down to around 20 here

2023 Air Touring. Last week temps in Chicago around 5-18 F. Heat at 76 w low seat warmers on. All Highway driving around 70-77 mph. Tires are 20” Michelin All Season.

maybe mine does better becuase it does get up into the 30s around here.

I just looked at the article and I couldn't find the model year for the tested GT. But this is a good and transparent bit of information showing that even the top vehicle tested lost 45% of the stated range in a real-world cold range test. It does 2 valuable things. It helps to set realistic expectations for prospective EV purchasers. And it shows how far away the technology and engineering are from EV's being able to replace ICE vehicles for practical cold weather use.

With the amount I drive I have to DCFC much more in the winter than summer due to range loss. Not only is it generally non-productive time, but it's going to be a significant cost increase after my free charging ends in a month. We'll have to see how much I enjoy the car and if it still offsets the cost of repairs (no warranty), the cost of charging (no free DCFC), the inconvenience (frequent charging), and all the other quirks of the car especially in the cold next winter.
