LOW height grayed out

Every time I go to wash the car, I pull out to dry it off with microfiber towels. The last few times I thought it would be easier to dry the roof if I put it in LOW height. But when I open the driver door and try to change ride height, it's grayed out. Ugh!

Then when it gets in when done to leave, it magically appears. Doh!

So what's the trick? Gotta be sitting in the seat? Door closed? In gear?

Now that I think about it, that makes sense. If you're parked on a curb, you don't want the open door lowering onto it and bending the frame.

Unfortunately the opposite is also true, if someone opens the door onto a high curb and it's stuck/scraping you have no way to raise it up other than pushing on the side of the car.

The same is true for all vehicles that don’t have height adjustment, which is the vast majority of vehicles on the road.

Is there any vehicle that allows height adjustment while doors/trunk open? As convenient as it would be, I can think of some nasty corner cases.

Sure but the Gravity has very low doors compared to most vehicles it's size.

The Gravity has a dual personality: a big sports car plus family and cargo hauler. Treat the Gravity as a low-sitting sports car when opening doors, not as an SUV.

If your passengers refuse to respect the sports car aspect, well, I’m sure you can put the Gravity through its paces to remind them of that fact .

Better yet, when pulling down the last 100yds of your drive nearing your destination, click Vehicle and give the High ride height button a push so that by the time you stop ppl can open their doors w/o you worrying about scraping
It's an easy habit to get into and saves the agony of hearing that [skr*#@'gghhh!!!] sound or hear your passengers saying "uh-oh"....

Better yet, when pulling down the last 100yds of your drive nearing your destination, click Vehicle and give the High ride height button a push so that by the time you stop ppl can open their doors w/o you worrying about scraping

I wish they would give us a "Ride height when in Park" setting. Be nice to have the option to have it AUTOMATICALLY change to a specific height we want every time for getting in/out, then return to normal when we put it in drive.

That's part of the easy entry/exit functionality, but it doesn't always do what people prefer.

Easy entry/exit works: Takes it up to maximum ride height every time I walk away...just takes too long to activate. My passengers are almost always opening the doors and out before the "easy" exit Ride Height adjustment begins so I just got in the habit of selecting High when nearing my destination.

That's easy to fix. Just set the locks so the passengers can't unlock until you allow them to (sort of a child proof lock setup for the entire car). It is on the pilot panel

Hmmm..not sure I'm that much of a control freak
Plus, if I did that to my wife I'd for sure have to hear about it the rest of the evening & probably wouldn't get any either

We have curbs I park near somewhat regularly that need the "Highest" setting so I can't do this until you're just about stopped because of the speed limitations on the highest/lowest settings.

It'd be nice if Lucid added location based automatic ride height. Had it in my Taycan and it's a GREAT system to have if you have any worries about being low.

Definitely. San Diego just has bad curbs though, we have a lot of uneven/broken ones so you never know what you'll get. One are of town I go to has them high enough that high clears just barely and one that highest just barely clears. Had to leave a space to let my wife out at one not long ago that highest didn't even clear.

Just be thankful the Gravity can raise itself! With curbs that high, it would be impossible for passengers to open the curb-side doors of most cars.

Asking passengers to wait until the Gravity raises seems to be a small price to pay compared to passengers having to gingerly squeeze out of a partially opened curb-side door, with no guarantees that they won’t make door-to-curb contact. We can’t exactly put our fingers between the door and curb like we can with door and car in tight parking spots.
