Got a little adventurous on this 70 degree Xmas Day in North Carolina and drove Old NC-105. I wish I took some photos of the road, but it's mostly gravel/rock/dirt with a few very bumpy places where water washed out parts of the road. Most say you must have 4 wheel drive but there are some "brave" souls who go in sedans.
We drove it this afternoon and it was mostly a great drive. I was going pretty slow (did not air down tires...doubt most do) on the bumpy sections and felt very little spin of the tires. A couple times I could feel the tires adding torque to one wheel to get over bumpier spots. One thing I noticed was in a few places, I could hear a bit more of a "clunk" as the car came over a big bump. Ya think this is just pushing the air suspension to its limits? Hopefully that's not bad for the car...thoughts?
I felt like it was a good test. This road is pretty mild so I hope the car can handle others that are even a bit more harsh. Haven't heard much about Terrain Mode, but maybe they'll add some special sauce with that feature?
Any thoughts? Anyone else go adventuring off-road yet?
