Leaving the car unlocked while it's in my garage

If the car can geofence your garage door opener (I presume that's how it is providing me the option as I approach my home), door lock/unlock persistence seems like an easy setting to add.
 
I’d like to echo the desire to have a geofenced unlocked state in my garage. My Rivian manages that fine, with the door handles remaining in the extended unlocked position but the vehicle powered down. If I go out to the garage, I can hear parts of the system spin up, but no other action occurs until I open the door. With the AGT, every time I walk into the garage, it’s a light and dance show until the car decides I didn’t open the door enough and auto unlock is deactivated. Just allow it to remain unlocked at home…

If you want to eliminate the light and dance show you can turn off "Unlock on Approach". I do that when I'm mowing the lawn, otherwise it wakes up and goes to sleep with every pass.

Me too. Passive lock is off, but the car eventually locks itself. It doesn't lock itself immediately, rather it goes through a sequence over a period of time: 1) unlocked with handles out, mirrors out, 2) unlocked with handles retracted, mirrors out (pressing the handles will unlock the car), 3) finally fully locked with mirrors out. FWIW, my key FOBs stay in a Faraday pouch during all of this.

This is my approach too. The door handles do retract at some point, but they will open without your key present when you push in on them— so for functional purposes like grabbing something from the car, it’s the same as having it unlocked in the garage. You can actually get in and drive with no key, using the PIN, though I tend to only do that if I’m just backing it out of the garage or something.

What I’m unsure about is whether that actually puts the car into the deep sleep that helps with certain resetting. Those usually speak about locking the car and walking away, and in case it’s not really locked.

(Unlike L-Dude, it never seems fully locked; ie I can go back much later, even next day, and still get in by pushing the handle, with no phone or fob)

Yes, I did that a few times, up to 24 hours, without any problems. First I shutoff the front light and a/c cause everything is awake for about 20 to 30 minutes after that period doors handles retract but not the mirrors and everything looks as if the car was locked but for peace of mind I also let my drivers window open. I didn't notice any fob battery degradation.

Trust me I would SO LOVE my car to stay unlocked in some form. I hate having to pull out my phone, open the app and unlock the car that way. Of course when I really need to get into the car in a hurry, the app finds the car offline and I have to run back upstairs and get the FOB. At some point, I may try to pin down the point where the car stops being accessible by pushing in the handle. It seems to be at least 30 mins.

Another interesting mystery of different cars having their own personalities! Mine is also a 2025, a straight touring. At some point, I’ll double check that it stays unlocked indefinitely… I know it does for several hours, and I’m pretty sure I’ve gone out another day and had it still work.

Do you also have auto-unlock toggled off in your settings? I kind of assume you do, since avoiding the persistent stray wake ups around home is often the main reason people shift to this mode…

Do you actually have to open the Lucid app to unlock it when it has shut itself down? Or do you mean just wake your phone, and then push the door handle? (or maybe you’re one of the people whose phone has never worked correctly…?)
 
I have auto-unlock on (and auto-lock off). I don't have PAAK set up, so the only way I can unlock with my phone is to use the Lucid app.

When I first got the car, I tried various combinations of PAAK and FOB to unlock the car. For me, the fastest, most reliable setup was use the FOB only. It works immediately or with 2-3 seconds virtually all the time.
 
ok took a bullet for the tribe. havent driven the 2025 air touring since yesterday 26hrs all auto lock stuff is off.got off my butt just now went out to it, key in the house..pressed the handle and.....it opened. case closed

Interesting. So this may be the difference. If you don’t mind pushing the handle (or FOB) to lock when you’re out and about with your FOB, then turning off auto-unlock may usher you into the Unlocked at Home Promised Land…..

Not sure why having auto unlock on would make the car feel like it better go to sleep/full lock eventually, but that appears to be a possible trigger.
 
I've left mine (23 Air Pure, awd) for several days and it opens when the handle is pressed no fob, no phone.
