key fob problems with a poll

Did a search and couldn't find any threads specifically for the Gravity key fob problems.

We've (wife and I) have been having key fob problems whereby sometimes the key fob would take a long time to work both for unlock and lock and sometimes would not work at all. Seeing that the key fob has downloaded software I decided to give the "remove battery" method a try, I opened the case (use a small blade screwdriver) and popped the battery out and left the battery out for about 15 to 30 seconds. Since the removal of the battery and reinsertion the key fob's have been working great, I'm a very happy key fob user at least currently. I did not replace the battery, only removed and reinserted the same battery. I've not tried using the buttons on the key fob since removing and reinstalling the battery

I'm of the opinion that removing the battery does a hard reset of the hardware and software on the key fob and gets key fob back to a known good state. How long this will last probably varies depending on how one uses the key fob (pressing the buttons, ...).

I'll note that I've never had a problem with the NFC card

I'll also note that my wife and I both have profiles on the Gravity and each of us has our profile assigned to the key fob and NFC card we each have.

Any way to reword your poll to read something like "works 75% or greater" or a range like "75% to 95%"?
My fob works about 95%-99% of the time, so 75% is not an accurate description for my experience.

I appreciate the attempt to quantify the issue, but I think we need to define what "works" means. I would say 95% of the time, my door handles have presented by the time I reach the car. The other 5% of the time, I press the handle in and it presents immediately. To me, that is a 100% success rate. I suspect others find that to be a 95% success rate. My bottom line is I can open the door in less than 2 seconds 100% of the time. I consider that to be a 100% success rate.

FWIW, I love this FOB. It is so small and light I barely know it is there, and since I have to carry two keys with me, having the FOB in my pocket isn't a bother at all.

Unfortunately it looks like I either can't modify a poll once posted or the time to edit has expired (posts have a time to edit of 45 minute (IIRC) after which the post become uneditable)

In my case I carry the fob and my phone, so don't know who is working better. But my average is 99+% however in the spirit of the poll I said 75%.

Do you have an Air, or is there a Gravity PAAK that got released and I don't know about it?

I be an Air driver all the way! Also not experiencing any overload although fully optioned, but to be fair, perhaps the non-working items are easy to pass over.

This being in the Gravity subforum, I *think* the hope was to get a clean, Gravity-focused data set. It could have been clearer in the post and poll titles, though....

no criticism from me, just making sure everyone understands what the poll results actually mean.

With that said, I am currently driving a loaner Air (key fob and software versions unknown), and while the fob seems to work great when I approach the driver's front door and unlocks everything, it is not as reliable for opening the trunk or the other doors. So it's something south of flawless performance for sure in my small sample size.

IMO it might depend on the battery. I've only replaced mine once when I got the Gravity in December and haven't had to since. I used the RetailDigitals brand on Amazon as I use their CR2032 batteries in my AirTags from the time when other batteries' bitter coatings would cause problems with battery contact in them. I'm in the keyfob works 100% voting here. Not sure how much that has to do with battery or possible fob revisions though.

I've not had to do that at all since the 3.5.1 update.

Just want to add to this thread. Got in my Gravity today to come home and a message popped up that the fob battery was low. I replaced it when I took delivery on December 19th so it lasted almost exactly six months. Checked on a multimeter and the old battery was reading 2.98V, replaced it with a new RetailDigitals that was reading 3.3V.

Just a check in - I’m now three weeks in since my fob was replaced by SC. It continues to be basically flawless - Auto Unlock presents handles as I approach or walk by the car. Auto lock is working about 5-10seconds after walking away. Consistent opening of trunk and frunk. No key fob detection issues.

There was one morning where the car took 5 seconds to open and present the handles. I could hear it waking up so it definitely detected the key. Was not a disruption at all.

Just took my kids camping and the gravity was amazing in every way. Really enjoying this now.
