Incoming calls

I'm using Android auto in my lucid air. Lately when I receive an incoming call I am unable to pick up a call through Android auto. I have to pick up the phone connect the call and only then will the audio play through the car system. I've tried rebooting both the car and the phone. I've also tried to disconnect and forget the phone. Neither of these have solved the problem. Any help would be appreciated
