In preperation for Gravity getting Hands Free Highway DDP

Although I have a Gravity, this question is probably more for existing Air owners as those with DDP will have been using Hands Free Highway for quite awhile now and I would assume that the implementation of this in Gravity will be very similar. I have heard mostly good comments about the Hand Free on Air and so am looking forward to this update.

1. I have turned off eye tracking on my Gravity as I do not want the constant annoying warnings. I understand that for Hands Free, eye tracking will have to be enabled. Does this mean that I will need to go into settings and re-engage eye tracking? Or will eye tracking automatically engage when I turn on hands free DDP? I am hoping that it is the later, so I do not have to put up with constant pay attention warnings while driving around town without DDP engaged but then still be able to simply engage Hands Free DDP when I get on highway without having to dive into settings to turn eye tracking on/off.

2. When driving with Hands-Free DDP, do you find the attention warning too annoying? Does it allow basic infotainment adjustments, check mirrors, etc.? I know that early FSD on Teslas had very annoying eye tracking that has slowly relaxed to a more usable system. Is Lucid’s eye tracking while in DDP similar to current Tesla?

I also know that one of the key advantages of the Gravity (vs Air) with regard to eye tracking is that Lucid moved the camera to the top of steering column and not in dash screen, so much less likely to block view of drivers eyes.

Not that I'd recommend it, but you don't really have to look at the road frequently on Air hands free. Probably once every five seconds or so.

Edit: On second thought, probably closer to 3 or 4 seconds

I left eye tracking on in my Air, and the occasional alert didn't bother me. Much of the time, it was right.

For Air you may look away for a few sections, but expect to keep your eyes on the road (as you should and are supposed to with Level 2 autonomy). But you can adjust the nav, change SiriusXM channels, and take a sip of your Starbucks without being dinged. But if you look at your phone to start texting it will catch you.

I don't believe so. The cameras needs to see your face but otherwise you can leave drowsy driver and the rest off.

It's honestly probably too permissive, heh. It only annoys me when I really have looked away or gotten distracted.

On #2, yes its v annoying with that alert sound. Personally I feel it has to be a bit lenient however its not at a maturity level where it can afford that. Hands free will not reduce stress during long travel. May be in future as Lucid collects more hands free data, it learns and improves software. This was one of the reason I am now going ahead with DD Premium in Gravity. Save some money if I'm not going to use it. Thats just my personal take on it.

The eye tracking turns on for hands on DDP in Gravity right now as it stands. It alerts when you look away for too long or it can’t see your eyes. I don’t expect it to get any more or less naggy once they go full on hands free. Hopefully anyways…
