We took our new Air Touring out on its first day trip to Big Sur and back, a 320 mile round trip. The car was great: quiet and comfortable, and a great pleasure to drive both on freeways and in the hills. I had started with a full charge, so I didn’t really need to charge on the trip. But when we stopping for dinner I noticed an available EA charger nearby. So I plugged in with 70 miles of range left, assuming it would take until the end of dinner to finish charging. It took less than 25 minutes to charge back up to the daily limit of 80%, adding 250 miles of range. This car charges much faster than our Tesal. I ended up paying about $10 in idling fees.

My first EV back in 2015 had no DC fast charging capability, and it added about 30 miles of range in an hour of charging. Truly impressive progress in EV charging speeds, now I can get 250 miles in 25 minutes, and that is without any preconditioning. The convenience of just plugging in and things working as expected is great to see with EA. That was one Tesla feature that I wasn’t sure I would get with Lucid, so I carried my usual set of cards from ChargePoint, EV Go and Blink.

The inbuilt navigation did a good job of predicting the remaining range on arrival — worth using for long trips when you are watching range and thinking about when and where to charge. It worked well while I played audio from Android Auto. I normally use Android Auto for directions as well.

All in all, excellent experience with the Lucid!

Which EA did you stop at? We like to visit Big Sur, Soberanes Point and canyon, Pt Lobos, etc.
 
You west coasters are so lucky. I am choosing between Buckees (which rock) and competeing (worse) Truck Stops

Always amazed at the DC fast charging capability of Air and now Gravity is amazing.

I’m a huge fan of DC fast charging. My only problem is it’s now becoming so expensive. Was worth it with free charging, but not when paying lol.

I joined two other cars at an eight station EA spot in Tempe today at 5:20 AM. Plugged in to a 350 kW station at 28%, preconditioned, and with the outside temperature at 75 degrees. Charging initiated at 118 kW, along with the dreaded 'Charging power limited by station.' notification. Why on earth would EA limit power at 5:30 AM on a very cool Sunday morning? Does the lay of supply and demand mean nothing?

In EA's defense, the 118 kW held for quite some time, so I only missed my usual '35 minutes to 80% no matter what' by five minutes or so. Strange.

Electrify Americas in California are often located in a Walmart parking lot. Rural locations are generally behind a gas station, so not much better. I'm waiting for Ionna etc. to come to CA.

In that case you should be very envious of my Buc-ee’s charging experience! I’m going to report to my wife that TN is ahead of CA in EVs! 😂
