One thing I have realized, as yall may know as well, its not worth owning any electrical vehicle if you dont have a place at home to charge (lower rates). The EA around me is 56cents a kilowatt hour!! This is about 4 times the home rate, so charging is about the same as gas (at least it feels that way to me since since I've never paid these prices.). I'm coming from a tesla and only charged outside the home twice a year, so no big deal)not a long distance traveler). At this EA rate the only benefits to EV are the low maintenance costs (no oil changes, I never changed my Tesla brakes/rotors etc). The EA 350 Kwatt stations are pretty fast though

By the way, $650 for the Lucid mobile charger? really? Only reason I'm getting it is because they gave me free credits to do so. My Tesla mobile cost I think $200 or $250. In theory, I can just buy an adapter for under $100 and use the TEsla one already installed at my house. Bought my car 3 weeks ago. On the website it said shipping July 11th, NOW it says shipping Aug 15th??? what is gong on

I may just have to buy an adaptor now to survive lol. I may just sell the Lucid one. Not sure how it does anything different/better than the Tesla one? (except 40 amp charge, but I don't need speed, charges over night and with the big battery I won't need to charge everyday)

To me, it would make sense to just get the adapter so you can charge now, and have a backup in case you have a problem with the Lucid charger in the future. It would also allow you to use Tesla destination chargers at hotels and retail establishments. You could have one by tomorrow from Amazon.

Hey LucidPea,
I recommend that you look online on Ebay, I got mine from a seller in NJ for about & 700

Agree. I recommend the Lectron or Tesla Tap (more expensive) adapters, and at a minimum get the 48 amp version of either. I have the Tesla Tap 80 amp adapter in case I ever needed it at some AC chargers hotels/retail locations.

If I were you i'd just get the adapter for the Tesla charger at home and when you get the Tesla charger just keep it in the car. Since you mentioned $650 I am assuming you are referring to the mobile charger. If comes in a case that fit exactly into that triangle type space on the edge of your trunk behind your rear wheel.

I have a Tesla charger installed at my house and I use the Tesla Tap adapter. It’s more expensive but built better. I’ve been using it for months with zero problems highly recommend

I, too, am waiting for the (now Aug 15) cable to ship. Brought my car home 6/30. I had picked up a Lectron adapter from Amazon or else would be equally frustrated. The adapter works perfectly btw--my expectation is to use that when we travel/keep it in the car after we get the new cable. We are keeping our older Tesla and just swapping for now. So surprised that the cable is such an issue for Lucid to provide--I wasn't expecting that. Hang in there!

I'm in the same boat. I got my car on 6/20 and I'm waiting for the Lucid mobile charger supposedly shipping on 8/15 as mentioned. With the $650 credit it's basically free. I picked up a Lectron from Amazon to hold me over, but sent it back. It got so hot I could barely touch the unit and that made me nervous. Because I wrote a bad review, they sent me another one for free. The new one doesn't get nearly as hot and so far works great.

So you got it for free and still complaining? 🤦‍♂️🤔

On another note, 💯 home charging is the way to go, but you bought a Lucid. Is charging cost really a major hardship for you? Going Broke? Really?

I don't see any complaining in there FWIW
Read it again:

That’s OK. I don’t know. You are probably much more forgiving and understanding better person than me

I got the lectron. Will decide if I will keep or send back

I bought the ChargePoint home charger, never even considered the Lucid one. The ChargePoint charger gets all the rebates and incentives from my state.
Nice with the incentives, but the $650 Lucid mobile charger is free

I mean, you can call it a complaint if you want, I'll never understand why the mobile chargers costs $650. I mean I just mentioned the price for pure discussion, not like I'm losing sleep over something I'm not even pay for ya know

The going broke was just a joke. I have enough money to buy the lucid, I can hang in there until a charger comes. But with Aug 15th ship date, I could literally give hundreds of dollars to Electrify America with the sky high rates. That's not what I bought an electric car for is all

How much are YOU paying for the Lucid mobile charger?

Waiting as well...is this what you all recommend?

Lectron Electric Vehicle Charging Station (WiFi) 48 Amp with App Control - Powerful Level 2 EV Charger (240V) with NEMA 14-50 Plug/Hardwired - V-Box Pro Compatible with All J1772 EVs

1st time EV owner so not up to speed on these charging devices. do I need an adapter if I purchase this? I assume so, but might as well ask.

It says that is J1772 so you would not need an adapter, it would be plug and play with your Lucid Air. I don't have that particular charger, I have the ChargePoint Home Flex, which was well reviewed in the brief online researching I did. I just wanted a charger that was eligible for my state and power company rebates.

This or the Tesla Tap version if you have a Tesla wall charger:

There's a lot of J1772 chargers that will work from home with no adapter. I already had a Juicebox 40A charger that I was using with my last car. It works fine on the Lucid. You have to schedule charging from the car anyway, so all you need is a basic charger.

1st, that's not the point. 2nd, if you look into what you quoted from me, you would see that I said "Im not losing any sleep over something I'm not paying for....." so that should have stopped you from even asking that question. I did have to pay for shipping tho, and tax on that
True but I don't have the NEMA 14-50 outlet in my garage and the NEMA 5-15 adapter would just be so slow I'd end up having to charge almost every day.
curious, depending on model, you should be getting minimum 300 miles up to 500 miles. You drive that much daily? I work close so I would only have to charge once per week if work only. I just got the car so I've been joy riding it almost daily, so that's why the electrify america charges are adding up. Plugging in home charger 10pm or 11pm , it would always be full by time to leave out for work (and that's if its don't to 5% or less battery)
