We took The Beast on the road for the first time yesterday to pick up a new dog. Three hours each way. Here are my boring and redundant impressions:
•The car is a road tripping beast (hence the name). It just gobbles up the miles smoothly, with speed and precision.
•I started with 100% charge, and ended with 22%. I was getting about 3.2-3.3 miles per kWH. I would love to get a little better range, but this is entirely acceptable and a HUGE improvement over my Audi.
•The car is super comfortable. Even the new hound was comfortable in the roomy back seat. We have a hard-bottomed dog hammock in the back seat and the dogs love it.
•HFDA worked flawlessly, but I don't like using it. I'm not entirely sure why--it's probably a control thing. I think I just like driving and find that the time passes more quickly when I am actively driving. I also spend the whole time watching for the HFDA to make mistakes instead of just relaxing and taking in the view. Perhaps this subsides over time.
•The car just gobbles up the highway, with the illusion that you are not moving very fast. 80mph seems sedate. We got slowed to 65mph a couple times and it literally felt like we were doing 35.
•I think the entire audio interface needs to be redesigned. I spend way too much time looking at it while trying to find the source I want.
•My car has a bit of a motor whine between 69 and 85 mph (no, I wasn't going that fast, I was just...uh..testing it briefly
). If the audio is on or wife is talking non-stop, it isn't noticeable.
•It takes a while to get this car charged at home (at 9kW). I'm looking forward to getting my LCHCS installed, which I will do after Lucid reveals the specs on V2H.
•My wife complained that I was going too fast when driving locally. I was literally doing 35 mph mostly and was only up on two wheels a couple of times.
•I spent much of the trip waiting for something in the car to go wrong. This is DEFINITELY a result of hanging out in this forum too much. It is a beautiful, precise and powerful driving machine.
