I recently had to replace my garage door motor. I went from an older model chain drive Liftmaster with MyQ to a brand new belt driven model, also with MyQ. I had zero issues setting up Homelink on the old model on my 2025 Air but, this time around, it will not recognize the car (or the car will not recognize it?) during setup. I am following the setup instructions to the "T", just as I did last time (car just outside the garage etc.).

It's a late model Liftmaster so I'm 99% sure it has HomeLink.

Any thoughts/tips/tricks?

Are you having trouble training the car with the remote, or training the opener with the car?

Good question. So I can pair the clicker remote to the car initially when i hold the button down near the frunk. No issue there. It’s the second party pairing with the motor unit itself.

On a couple different cars and openers, I've had to park the nose of the car directly underneath the opener in order to program the opener to recognize the car. Others, with different cars and openers, have not.

If you try this, pull the opener's emergency cord to disconnect the garage door from the opener, to avoid closing the door on the car.
You may also be able to get it to work by putting the car in the garage normally while teaching the opener, so the nose of the car will be several feet past the opener's antenna.

When the opener is in "learn" mode, it requires a very strong signal to accept a remote code. This is done so that your door doesn't inadvertently learn your neighbor's remote code if they press a remote control button while yours is in learn mode.

I actually did try it inside the garage directly under the new unit before writing here. Just weird. Thanks for the comments though. As usual very informative. 👍🏼
 
I had to replace my garage opener. We installed a lift master 4690 L.
After that, I tried to program the Homelink on my 2023 Air Touring which I easily programmed for the old garage opener when we purchased the car.
This time, despite trying multiple times by following the detailed instructions in the car I have not been able to set up the Homelink.
I am able to add a Homelink, go outside the car and use the handheld garage opener for the car to learn the code(?). The car honks and flashes the lights. Then I hit continue inside the car, press the learn button on the garage opener and then back in the car I’m supposed to test three times the Homelink. At that point, nothing happens. At the end, it asks if the procedure worked. If the answer is no, recommends calling Lucid Support. I have done that twice, with no success either.
Trying the procedure with the car inside the garage directly underneath the opener has not worked either. Any other ideas?

That’s basically exactly the issue I’m having to the “t”.
 
Definitely frustrating. I don’t know the magic formula, but I got mine programmed after spending over an hour with repeated attempts.

All I remember was that I was fast in my last attempt. I made sure to go through the procedure as quickly as possible, as I’m sure both the garage door and car has programming timeouts. I also hit “accept” regardless of whether or not the test passed, and simply tested myself hoping the programming was successful.

In normal operation, it can take multiple tries to open/close the garage door, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the three tests fail yet the home link is programmed correctly.

You may have done this already, but if not, give this a try: delete all HomeLink, reboot with the x, mic, and brake, come back in 10 minutes and do the install with fresh battery in the remote.

Preparation

• Park and power: Park outside the garage with the door closed, vehicle in Park, and keep the key fob inside.
Lucid’s owner’s manual covers Homelink in the vehicle controls section and general pairing flow Lucid Motors +1.
• Clear old entries (if needed): In the Homelink screen, delete any prior channels to avoid conflicts Lucid Motors +1.
• Identify opener type: Know whether your garage uses a “rolling code” (most modern openers) or a “fixed code” remote; the flow differs slightly Lucid Motors +1.

Step‑by‑step pairing

1. Open Homelink in the car: On the Pilot Panel/Clearview screen, go to Settings > Homelink, choose Add New, and pick a name like “Home Garage” Lucid Motors +1.
2. Train with your handheld remote:• Hold the remote at the headlight: Place the garage remote very close to the front fascia. Many Gravity owners report fastest success holding it under the passenger‑side headlight, even though some on‑screen prompts may show driver‑side; hold it flush to the surface and press the remote button until the car acknowledges (horn/light flash) Lucid Owners.
• If driver‑side works for you, that’s fine—some owners have succeeded there too. The key is proximity and steady press until the car confirms Lucid Owners.

3. Complete rolling‑code sync (if applicable):• Press the “Learn”/“Program” button on the garage opener unit (usually on the ceiling motor housing). You typically have ~30 seconds.
• Return to the car and press the newly created Homelink button 2–3 times, holding each press for 1–2 seconds, until the door moves Lucid Motors +1.

4. Test and save: Use the Homelink button to open/close the door. Rename and assign a location‑based auto‑close/open behavior if desired Lucid Motors +1.

Found the above in my ai chat history. Step 3 was the key
 
Ended up calling Homelink today. They walked me through the process to program Homelink on my 2023 Air for my new garage opener with Homelink Security + 3.0
You follow the initial instructions: delete old homelink entries, create new entry, train with garage receiver.
After this, while the Lucid dash instructions ask to push the learn button on the opener and hit Start on the Lucid panel, the Homelink service representative asked me to just press the Start button and continue with Testing the new homelink. The garage opener responded on the second of the three tests.
The Homelink representative explained that the Lucid instructions are for Homelink Security + 2.0 which required pressing the learn button on the opener. The Homelink Security + 3.0 does not require that step and therefore you go from training to testing without the need for pressing the learn button on the garage opener.

I actually just had my car picked up for its 1 year service but I am trying this as soon as I get the car back. Very helpful!

You are a lifesaver! I purchased two Liftmaster 6690Ls and had the same problem everyone else is describing. I followed your advice and it worked on both doors! Thank you so much!
 
Here’s a minor hint, if you have multiple devices remember they will stay in order and there is no way to organize them afterward. So make sure you program them so that the first one you program is the one you want at the top of the list.
 
Love this forum! Got a new Liftmaster 2220L installed today and spent several cycles trying to add it to my 2022 Lucid Air homelink before I decided to check the web to see what I needed to do differently. As stated--don't worry about pushing the learn button, its' not needed (in fact seems to block the programming). Remote to "L", honk, blink blink blink. then test. worked on two of the three tests this time with the car in the same location in front of the garage door. And as noted also, be sure to clear old homelinks or you're stuck with them--reprogram them and add in the order you want. I'm all set now (as long as my gate keeps chugging along)! THANK YOU EVERYONE!!
Lucid CC didn't know this and told me to go to homelink website to find out how to program (the homelink website doesn't even have Lucid listed as a brand as of today at least).

i got the same Liftmaster model installed and no matter what i try, my Lucid Air isn't connecting. I tried with and without Learn button press. no luck. replaced the remote batteries. pressing the remote near the L logo works and the car recognizes the signal but the Test homelink never works. any suggestions?

Make sure you delete the existing Homelink profile, or rename it, and set up a new profile. Press Add New to create a new profile and then, as you did, press the remote near the U in Lucid on the front bumper. Be sure to press the same button on the remote that you use to operate the garage door. The car should respond (honk, lights blink). Press Continue (or Start, can't remember which) on the pilot panel WITHOUT first pressing the Learn key on the opener. That should take you to the testing phase. You'll need to press test 2 or 3 times. You have 90 seconds to do this. Shouldn't be a problem. Also, the garage door remote must be trained with the opener before using it to train the car. Sorry to point out the obvious! Good luck!
