Hold onto your butts - Hagerty Drag Race

“That braking is impressive given the Quad’s curb weight of 6,824 pounds.”

“The R1S Quad is also the quickest SUV in the quarter mile, taking 10.5 seconds to cross the line at 128.2 mph.”

Ridiculous to think Lucid is going gain .7 seconds in the quarter mile with the same two motors and just an extra horsepower boost.

Not sure how ridiculous it is because that’s what Rivian did, the torque didn’t change just HP.

Gravity Dream is estimated at 10.5 in 1/4 so a tie, by estimate.

Will see soon enough what it really runs.

Really! The Gravity is a people hauler, not a drag strip car. Of course it will be very quick when needed but it is what it is, a family SUV.

Since Hagerty got their hands on one for the drag race, I hope it means we get to see an in-depth Icons video on the Gravity!

2-4 weeks seems to be a fair amount of time to finish their editing.

Totally agree, and I think Lucid nailed the briefing when it came to on-road comfort, efficiency and luxury. Rivian is super cool but the skew towards 0-60 and off-road isn't necessarily as broadly capable (see charging speeds, range, efficiency (operating costs)) and interior space. That being said marketing performance is what it is I think the DE will do just fine at all other areas of performance outside launching faster than X Plaids, Cybertrucks and R1s.

Does anyone know if Rivian re-mapped the "squishy and non-responsive" accelerator pedal? Coming from a Model S, it was one of the things that drove me crazy (among several other issues). I ended up selling my June 2023 quad motor R1S.

This video just got released and popped up in my Youtube feed.

The results are in!
I'm glad they used a GDE. Makes sense.

Sending to my drag racing friends still driving ICE cars with no interest in ev.

Apparently GT times were hidden in the list mess, #28, 11.0 @ 128mph.

This video popped up in my YT feed earlier today. What a back-end performance by the Gravity! Didn't look like it had a chance halfway in.

before watching the video, I was sure the Rivian was gonna take it. 0-60 time was the same as the X Plaid. It's got 4 friggin motors. The way the GDE catches up was amazing. Now I need to go find a long stretch of road and stretch the legs on the Gravity.
