I have been on the highway enough to sample HFDA. I have to say that it works pretty well. I also have to say I like driving the car myself rather than having the car drive me. Perhaps it is just because it gives me something to do. Maybe I am slightly wary of the HFDA capabilities. It could be that I just like driving this awesome car. At any rate, I was on the highway for two hours today and the only time I used HFDA was when I showed my grandson how it worked. (I still use advanced cruise control a lot.)

I was excited to get the capability, now I'm like meh.

How about you? How do feel about HFDA.

Have 10 years of whatever Tesla called FSD. For me this tech is most useful when traffic, fast or slow, demands that I frequently adjust both speed and lane position. Whether congestion from road obstructions, or areas with frequent random super high speedsters to roads with unpredictable geriatric drivers. It reduces fatigue. Nonetheless I supervise ( retired from a career of supervising one on one - so old hat) and never consider real multitasking. So most of the time I am the pilot.

One other comment on what I have experienced. Since I have always kept my hand on the wheel, the immediacy of disengaging the smart car by flicking a stalk with a finger while still holding the wheel with other fingers allows for much faster and easier initiation of human control than searching for an x button or a brake pedal.
