RESOLVED Headlight dark spots

I’ve only had the car for 1,024 days but I haven’t experienced anything that made me think something was moving in front of me due to the dark spots. It does “move” but it’s directly proportional to the movement of the lights.

Wouldn’t an animal be light up by the lights though? They are powerful and a critter would be illuminated. Not dark.
Shine a light on wall 100' away. Put a black dog in front of that wall. Is that a shadow or a dog? Does it move proportionally as the direction you're heading? Sure, why couldn't it?

Here's the thing: now that I know what it is, I'm not so concerned but it caught my attention.

I was just discussing this with a friend last night on the drive home.
Yah they are rather annoying seeing them in my opinion but it is what it is I guess.
We parked my friends GT in front of the closed garage door to try and trace the dark spot to the light lens and could not pinpoint exactly where they come from.
I was hoping for a small mold mark or a manufacturing logo or somthing in the lens that could be buffed out smooth to eliminate the two dark spots but no we could not find anything that would not require a teardown of the lens assembly internally. Nope not doing that.

Best not… might void the warrantee.

Yes of corse, gotta draw the line at that.
Somthing simple on the surface of the lens sure. But taking it apart...
We will try it first on your Air GT before mine.

Um, let's not draw the line at voiding your warranty. Let's draw it at blinding oncoming cars.

Those spots exist for a reason. And it's a very good one.

Don't worry, he's not going to do it. But I'm not sure the non-blinding of people makes any sense. No other high end vehicle I have owned has ever had that, even the ones with laser headlights like the new MB S550.

Yah I am finding it hard to believe that these two little dots below the low beam light line are for on comming traffic but yah I am not taking my GT apart for that.

Ask yourself a simple question. Which is more likely, given the hundreds of thousands of person hours that went into designing every detail of the Lucid Air? That Lucid purposefully created headlights with dark spots a) simply to annoy you. Or b) for safety / courtesy-to-other-drivers reasons?

There are no headlights on any automobile quite like the headlights on the Air. They are a very specific and unique array of LEDs that are incredibly intense despite their small footprint.

It’s been explicitly stated by Lucid, so unless you think they’re lying, consider taking them at their (and us at our) word. Have a lovely night!

Ah okay, I didn't know Lucid had given any direct guidance on it and was unable to find a source via google. It's not an issue for me but more of a curiosity.

Ok then, not calling anyone or you a liar here just a friendly (so I thought) discussion

I will try very hard to keep you in the two tiny tiny non blinding spots from my headlights when I pass you or others tonight.
Jk jk

I hope you have a very lovely evening yourself.

Haha I figured - I’m not annoyed, just trying to be super clear! :)

Yes sir,
Thank you.
I am the new guy to lucid.
I guess I am more use to crappy Tesla products where I had to heavily modify my model 3 to be "nice" while my Lucid GT came that way straight from the factory.

I've only had the car for a few days and the dark spots are bothersome. If you're on level ground and making a turn with the lights reflecting off something solid (like a wall, hill or bushes), those dark spots appear to be 'something' moving in the direction you're turning. In this pic, they're relatively small, but projected 50-100 feet more, they're about the same as a medium sized dog.

I had the same issue when I received my car. It is caused by the headlights being aimed too low out of the factory. Call service and have them adjust them upward; you will no longer notice the spots in routine driving after that.
