Even though the install ran for 4 hours It did update things. At 20 minutes the app showed my software at 3.5.7 with 99% complete but the car was offline. After 4 hours it sent a message that the update had completed. In the morning I changed the battery on my fob (it really was time to do that) and tried the car out. All worked fine with even the fob responding quicker.

There's a number of us that don't. It's most likely intentional, not a problem with our cars. Could be rolled out in waves, or could be just certain builds that need it (with later builds already having it from the factory), or some other reason we don't know. But just hearing that others haven't gotten it (at least yet) is reassuring.
 
Has anyone noticed an uptick in robustness? That’s the true measure of an update.
 
Robustness. Hmmm. I now have near instant response to my key fob press’s. I’ve never had that - there was always a delay while the system woke up and then the door handles popped open. Not now.

I've experienced that a few times in the past (a few good fob days), then it proved to be fool's gold.

Initial reports suggest this update was just an internal update to prep cars for the actual feature updating coming soon, so I wouldn't expect it to address fob issues. But who knows at this point. 🤷‍♂️
 
I'm confused. My 3.5.7 update took just 20 minutes, as the release notes said . . . and it was also said to be only a preparation for a coming update with the release notes saying nothing about any feature or functional improvements from this update. But I'm seeing posts here about things changing with the cars.

Did different owners get different updates, are some cars responding to changes and other aren't, or are some people just seeing improvements in responsiveness because they think they're supposed to with this update?

I will second this...I have had ZERO keyfob issues since this update for first time since owning the car (granted my issues haven't really been anything beyond a slight delay when walking up to the car or having to sometimes pull out the fob after a few seconds and hit the phyiscal button if the door doesn't unlock promptly)...now it seems to work INSTANTLY every time as it was probably meant to be. I'm still not going to hang my hat that everything is fixed for good until I have more data.

lol same, it just works now on 3.5.7 .. magic
 
Perhaps they are trying under the hood fixes without announcing and more fixes for that to avoid the stigma of another "failed keyfob fix"... Or the new framework applied by the update actually fixed the underlying issue... Which my observations seem to point to the car being in some sort of state of very deep sleep rather than a nap.

Emad Dlala said they were switching to a new software platform as part of their plan to sort out the software mess. Maybe this update was the switch to that platform, and it didn't change or add any new features . . . thus none being mentioned in the release notes? And the existing features that were malfunctioning (such as locking/unlocking) are now working properly on the new platform?

We went out in one of our Gravities tonight for the second time since the update, and its locking and unlocking actually has functioned properly on both outings.

(We haven't been able to download the update to our older Gravity, as it's back in the Roswell Service Center for yet another drive unit malfunction.).
 
I'm not a Gravity owner, but this update process seems different.
 
Stupid question: my app says my software is current at 3.5.1, but this update is 3–5–7. Ignoring the differences in punctuation marks, did I miss 6 intermediate updates?

No, the updates are not all sequentially numbered. The update number is likely related to the software build number and some of the software builds are never released
