Because even though it's annoying to just stand there for 5-20 seconds at times, it still opens timely much of the time. And it's still easier & faster to just stand there for a handful of seconds than to open my phone, open the app, and unlock it that way. Same way with pulling my wallet out and fishing the cardkey out. By then, the fob usually kicks in.It does seem your fob is having problems, by why not just use the app or key card until you can have your fob repaired/replaced? Seems far less hassle. Sometimes I run out with just my phone on me and use my car just fine with it. I just pull it out as I'm walking to the car to get it open and/or ready.
If it frequently took over 20 seconds, or failed to open at all, then I'd use one of those backup methods. But even with the random delay, the completely passive entry is still easier than a manual one. Lots of times I have stuff in one or both hands too. 100% passive is so much easier. I'm just used to it working without delay in every other car.
