Gravity software feedback by email

I was pleased to receive Marcs letter earlier here’s an abstract from my message to the feedback team:

Thank you for your CEOs letter received earlier today!

The map on my Lucid Gravity is completely out of date ( I have downloaded the most recent offline maps) here are 3 specific examples:

Kiara Drive Worcester MA is not shown, my (. ) has lived on this street since 2020.

Legacy Farms North in hopkinton MA is labeled with an obsolete street name that was amended over 5 years ago

Waterville Lane in hopkinton MA is not shown, our (. ) have lived there for a year

If you look on Google Maps all are accurately shown

Please include Apple car play urgently, so that drivers can connect to Google Maps and other features reliably and easily. I think this is a very serious omission in a high quality luxury vehicle

Incidentally my sales representative actually told me that Google Maps was installed in Gravity, and this assertion helped my purchase decision many months before I took vehicle delivery.

Yes, Lucid uses Here maps, which is probably the worst in car map service. Not only are many of the mapped areas outdated, the route navigation is also suboptimal, including speed limit info, where it decides to pull outdated database speeds over speed limit signs.

There are ways to “tickle” the Here database, which I will leave to the interested reader.

Yes, Lucid uses Here maps, which is probably the worst in car map service. Not only are many of the mapped areas outdated, the route navigation is also suboptimal, including speed limit info, where it decides to pull outdated database speeds over speed limit signs.

There are ways to “tickle” the Here database, which I will leave to the interested reader.

Based on that graph, they are the best! They are International and I wonder how much of that data is skewed to the international market.

I suppose my experience with them is anecdotal, but they are the worst as far as I can tell when compared with Google/Waze maps/navigation, Apple Maps/navigation or Tesla navigation.

I guess it’s graphs like this that caused car companies like Lucid to pick Here maps. Sounds like the rest of their software choices.

I honestly don’t have an issue with them and been using HERE for over a decade (Audi uses them as well). Maybe they just work better in CA than other states but it’s been pretty spot on traffic wise, route wise and incident wise. Prime example, When the fires were happening in CA roads were closed in my area as we were being evacuated and they had only been closed for no more than 30 mins. The maps in the car had already been updated to say the roads were closed.

The HERE map data is *horrible* in Massachusetts. You can submit updates here, but there's no clear timeline on when these reach the car nav:

I've made a few fixes around where I live (Somerville, MA) and at least one made it to the car after 5 months. Just clarity on this would be helpful.

This really depends on how much you trust analyst data. I'm curious who paid for this study...

Regardless, this is a somewhat misleading chart, in that for the purposes of driving I don't care about "Location Intelligence", "AI Capabilities" (HELL NO!!), "Sustainability" (?), Dev Ecosystem, Partnerships, etc. I care ONLY about the Maps Data, and I don't buy that they outrank Google here. Maybe in Europe, but definitely not in the Eastern US. Its a problem that needs to be fixed.

HERE Maps appears to score very well in the Counterpoint Research. However, for day-to-day driving in parts of the US, based on my experience the consumer navigation experience is clearly suboptimal compared with Google Maps, Waze, Apple Maps, or Tesla’s implementation.

The issues many of us are seeing are not abstract:

• Missing streets that have existed for years
• Outdated or incorrect street names
• Speed limits pulled from old databases instead of current signage
• Slow propagation of user-submitted fixes (months, not weeks)

Those are core map-data problems, not routing preference or UI taste. Analyst charts tend to weight things like “location intelligence,” AI tooling, sustainability initiatives, and developer ecosystems. None of that helps if your car cannot reliably recognize where you live or navigate correctly.

It may also explain why experiences appear to vary by region. HERE Maps (from some of the comments here) appears to perform better in parts of California while Massachusetts, Texas (where I live/drive) are clearly lagging in data freshness and accuracy. That gap is exactly why many of us owners are asking for Apple CarPlay or native Google Maps support. Not because HERE is unusable everywhere, but because it is not consistently reliable enough to be the only option in a premium vehicle.

I think you can really tell the focus on HERE by logging into the Map Creator and seeing where there are active campaigns for user input:

I've never seen an active data campaign for the US. They may be the best data provider in Europe, but Lucid sells most of their vehicles in the US, and HERE is absolute *garbage* on the east coast.

We hit another one last night. If you search for the "Windham Park & Ride" in Windham, NH it drops you in a grocery store parking lot more than a mile away. Google has the right location. I've updated this on Map Creator today. There's no way to update the POI location so I had to delete it and create a new one; let's start the clock on how long this takes to reach production (or if it's rejected entirely).

HERE has an elementary school and a grocery store locations flipped near me. I edited it in creator 4 months ago. Still the same today.

We know there are Lucid folks in the forum and I’ve seen them respond here several times.

I’ve not tried the new email, but I’ve had responses from our service center people.

I think the SW email would be tough to answer personally. I expect it’s similar to the voice bug reporting in Tesla. It’s absolutely being logged and triaged, but specific responses aren’t realistic with so many owners and various challenges, etc.

We know Lucid is getting the info per the CEO’s recent email and @nicktwork’s posts in X and here. I don’t feel the need to have a direct response, personally. I know after 5+ months of ownership they’re working hard and focused on stomping bugs. Perfect? No. Focused and well meaning? 100%. They’re making progress.

I would be satisfied with an automated noreply email stating issue has been received and logged(or similar feedback). Just to verify it hasn’t gone in the dustbin.
