Gravity Remote Start -- Another Software Bust

My GGT chirps if I use the fob to lock as I walk away; although it is kind of quiet. Wonder if the volume is adjustable in a SW setting?
It started chirping with Frunk closure which I don't prefer

Agree there should definitely be a lock chirp for the proximity lock when walking away.

What do you mean " ... the phone connects to the car's hotspot ..."?

I'm not aware of the Gravity having a WiFi hotspot feature.
I can use my phone to create a hotspot for the car to connect to, but no need when I have home WiFi access or cellular service.
Wireless Android auto transmits data over wifi. When my phone is connected to the car, if I go to the phone's wifi settings I can see it's connected to a network with SSID Lucid_NNNN (some digits, I forget.)

I should NOT have said "hotspot," I apologize. While the connection allows transmission of data from the phone to the car over wifi, at high bandwidth, it does NOT allow access to the internet or use of the car's cellular modem. When the phone connects to the car wifi, it switches its internet access to thee phone cellular modem.

That is a great observation and also happens on the iPhone when CarPlay has been previously paired. As you are approaching the car it switches to the cars "local network". You can, inconveniently I should add, on the phone switch it back to your previous wifi or turn off wifi to force it to cellular so you can turn on. Note this is of course a work around, not something that should be expected of users.

I now have to do the same thing even though I keep the key on me, as the car now often fails to lock and power down after I move away from it. (It also now fails to recognize the key fob upon approach, even with a new battery in it.). Several other posters on the forum have reported the same thing has started to occur with their cars.
I have been doing continuous experiments with the fob battery life since 3.4.1. This involves removing, measuring and replacing the battery many times, at this point only immediately after the last drive and the next day before the first drive of the day when I'm in the mood. I have noticed that inserting the battery into the fob while within range of the car (~50ft) sometimes causes either the fob to become unresponsive or the car to do silly things once I get into it. (Silly as in trying to duplicate 1/10 the issues you have)

So I'm curious if you can recall if you're completely out of range of the car when you put in a new battery or remove and replace the same battery. I can't duplicate the silliness reliably but it does seem to happen more when I insert the battery immediately adjacent to the car. Maybe the fob or car gets messed up trying to communicate while rebooting. How this leads to a cascade or likelihood of silliness until the car is rebooted I can't guess.

This remote start also has limitations that were beyond frustrating yesterday. My wife and I drove to go take her mother and grandmother out for lunch. We get to her grandmothers house, she needed me to come in and look at something in her house before lunch so I get out of the car and leave it unlocked. As you would do in any other vehicle. We all get back in the car and I open the app to do remote start, it wouldn’t work. I tap it again, it wouldn’t work. And again, nothing. I realized the remote start feature would not be working so I had to pull out my wallet and tap the key card to the tray to get the car into drive. I realized then that it looks like the car has to be locked after you arrive at your destination. Which is frustrating because if I know my car is safe, or running at a relatives house, why would I care to pull out my phone, lock the car for a minute later, “remote start” the car. Ugh.
Didn’t end there, we get to the restaurant to drop them off in front and I go park. I put the car in park and my wife helped her mom out and I helped her grandmother out. I get back in, the car wouldn’t go into drive. I got cars behind me, the key card is sitting on the tray. The digital key still isn’t working, had to remove the key card, wait 20 seconds or so then put it back and got the car into drive. My god, two normal scenarios for anyone that has ever operated a vehicle and it could not of been more frustrating. I now will carry the key fob again…great, I have to have three options with me at all times to be able to cover my options on how to drive my comprise(d) nothing SUV.

I don't know the range of the fob, as it varies. Sometimes the car unlocks as I enter the garage (about 20' from the car). Sometimes it doesn't unlock until I get right up on the car. Sometimes I have to hit the "unlock" button on the fob. Sometimes the car doesn't respond at all to the fob (an increasingly frequent occurrence).

I keep extra batteries in a drawer in the laundry room and always go in there to replace the battery. It's maybe 30' from the car as the crow flies.

Make sure you email the bug software email. You probably hit a use case they did not prepare for and perhaps they could implement in an additional update. I wouldn't run into this case in regards to locking bc growing up in a place where you lock it or likely lose it (NY) I have never been able to be comfortable anywhere not locking a car or a door. But the case you mentioned about putting it in park, getting out to do something and getting back in to go back into drive, I did come against that and my car wouldn't let me go back into drive either but I opened the app and it let me hit remote start again and I was able to get into drive fairly quickly. I still prefer tho just use my fob until full on PaaK is implemented.

When I actually want in the car, my door handles don't present until I'm right up on the driver door and just about to reach out and grab the handle. Unless I'm doing something else in the garage, then the damn thing is locking and unlocking (and mirrors folding) over and over and over.

I suspect that's more of a lag issue than a range issue. As if there's a 2-3 second lag between when proximity is detected and when the door handles present. If I'm walking directly to the car door to get it, it barely opens in time, but simply walking into the garage to dump something in the trash can still unlocks it.

If I walk to the other side of the garage (10-15 feet away) it usually locks again. I've got a little workshop on one side where I go grab stuff from time to time. I hear the mirrors unfold, then fold, then unfold, then fold. Sometimes 5-6 times if I'm in floating around the edge of the 10-15 foot range. I'm always afraid I'm gonna burn the motors out.

It's the same way with our Macan, BTW. And was with our Mach-E before that. Mirrors folding in/out everytime I walk into the garage. These things need a GPS location exemption list for home garages.

Interesting observation that I can't say I see happening with my phone. With WiFi enabled in car, when approaching car and even inside car, my phone remains connected to my home WiFi. I see the Lucid network (Lucid)_AP_XXXX) in the list of wireless networks on my phone, but my phone remains connected to my home WiFi.

I've been in a very similar scenario you mentioned of momentarily leaving the car unlocked, leaving it, and returning.
The car always recognizes the remote start feature and allows me to drive.

I like that feature.
I like knowing that while I'm away from the car and it's potentially out of my sight, someone can't just hop in it and drive away.

No any issues for remote start. Love it! No keyfob or card needed anymore.

You can prevent to unlocking/locking by slipping the fob in a Faraday Pouch once you make sure it's properly locked. That way you don't wear out any little motors when you pop out to the garage.

Yeah, I've got a few of those but I know I wouldn't do that every time. My fobs are just always in my pocket (guess I'm too old school). Remembering to take them and put them in a pouch every time (and reversing it when going to use the car) just ain't gonna happen. Pouch wouldn't fit well in my pocket anyway. I'll just leave them in my bedroom or office before doing that (that's far enough to not activate it). I do that now if I'm actually working in the garage for a while, but I really hate not having the fobs on me at all times. I may have to (gasp!) change my ways. 😄

Yeah, I guess my silly long narrow house has the keys hanging at the far end from the garage where somebody though it was a good idea to put the "front" door 🤪 and I just leave the pouch there to slip the fob into when I enter the house. If I go out to get something in the garage and want to get in the car I just unlock it w/ my phone and use Remote Start if I need to move it so my wife can charge her Taycan. We all have to work this into our home routines somehow.

Good luck on your new journey

Still frustrating that they didn't include a confirmation chirp for walkaway lock in 3.5.1. Seems so simple.

I have noticed the car do 2 shallow horn honks a couple of times recently, but not most times. Not sure what that's about. Doesn't seem to be walkaway lock confirmation because it usually doesn't happen. But it has maybe twice (although perhaps for a different reason?). No idea.
If I have the frunk or rear hatch open, hit close and walk away I get a brief horn beep since the car is trying to lock with a hatch still open. The vehicle is still locked once the hatch closes.

Today I got this email from Lucid:

I didn't know what software update 2.5.1 they were referring to, as our Gravities are running 3.5.1. So I checked my app software and found it was running 2.14.1 which, according to this email, should work with this update. Just to be sure, I checked the internet to find no further app update and then called Lucid Customer Service who also said 2.14.1 was the current version. They finally figured out that there is a typo in the email, which should have read 3.5.1.

Customer Service told me the feature was already active, which was a relief because our key fob no longer works properly in our newer Gravity. They said you do the mobile start by pressing the phone icon just to the right of the hatch opening icon on the app. It turns out the mobile key icons are grayed out for both our Gravities on the app. Customer Service insisted the feature is already active and had me log out and back in to the app. I did so, and the mobile key icon momentarily lit up before graying out again within a second.

So they issued a service ticket.

Once again, a thoroughly messed up software rollout. It's unending.
I laughed when I saw the first email (the one you show here.) I emailed back about the typo regarding the firmware version, and they fixed that quickly. The mobile key icon is gray on my phone when the car is plugged in. It lights up when the car is disconnected from the charger.
