Front seat rails

Are there supposed to be covers or end caps on the rails on which the front seats ride? I look down at my beautiful plush Tahoe beige carpeting and I see big black rails with the screw mechanism for moving the seats fully exposed. Other cars I have owned camouflaged the seat rails. Just curious.
