Flappy Bird Issue and Loud Climate Controls

The right passenger window flapping started a week ago and it took me a bit to figure out where the sound was coming from. Happens randomly when I am driving, most of the times it happens even when the front passenger door has not been opened at all (for the duration of the ride).

The driver's side of the front vents are crazy loud. I was not able to take a video but seems like the front windshield defogger kicks in and even though its OFF on the climate control, it isn't quite. I have to turn it off from the extreme left side menu of the top display, but touching anything on the climate control screen triggers it again.

….is that the door handle opening and closing on its own??!?

Wow… that is a collection of quirks no one expects from a luxury EV! Window flapping, vents going rogue, and a door handle deciding to practice surprise peek-a-boo while driving is enough to make anyone question reality for a moment. You handled it a lot better than most of us (rather I) would.

I had to watch the linked video just to fully understand what the “Flappy Bird Issue” meant… and honestly, it is simply unbelievable! Lucid, if you are watching these threads, this level of randomness should be setting off alarms somewhere.

The unpredictability makes it even more confusing, especially when nothing matches what the climate control or door logic claims it is doing. Hearing the defogger fire up on its own while the UI insists everything is off… that is premium-grade Lucid mischief right there.

Situations like this really do test a person’s patience and tolerance, and you showed far more of both than the car deserved in that moment.

Hopefully service can pin down the gremlin behind the window, the vent, and the handle’s unexpected enthusiasm. In the meantime, this Forum is always here to help keep everyone sane while our Lucids experiment with new personality traits.
 
It’s kinda silly that a car in 2025 is having these kinds of issues when pretty much all other manufacturers have found ways to avoid them - for decades. I’ve never had a car do any of these things.
 
Here is a better / longer video. Happened today morning again. Now it’s pretty consistent- every other drive.

Oh no @Ironhorse … seeing it happen again in your longer video really shows how persistent this “Flappy Bird” issue has become. Once in a while is annoying, but every other drive is on an entirely different level. At that point it stops being a quirk and starts becoming a feature absolutely no one asked for (and potentially dangerous if the door opens up inadvertently).

Honestly, hats off to you for calmly recording these episodes. Most of us would be too busy facepalming to remember to hit record. The video makes it painfully clear that this is not a minor vibration, it is a full-on mechanical tantrum that needs proper attention from Lucid (Are you listening?).

Who knows… maybe this is Lucid’s new secret method for achieving EPA rated range. If the door handles flap fast enough, they might generate their own aerodynamic assist. That is the only theory I have left at this point. 😄

Jokes aside, this should not be happening on any modern vehicle, let alone a brand-new Gravity. I really hope service treats this as an ongoing pattern and gives it the attention it deserves.

Please keep us posted. Your patience at this point deserves its own badge and maybe even hazard pay!

I have the same issue with the flappy door handle. Were you able to get it fixed?
 
SC has ordered a replacement handle. I have a bigger appointment scheduled for a bunch of other stuff. Hopefully get it replaced next week.
 
Loud Climate Control is a big issue in this car for me. Software can help moderate the issue, I think, and is definitely exacerbating the issue just now, but the underlying root causes are mechanical. Goodness gracious the car is unpleasant if anyone has the fan turned up to 6 or above.

Here's where I think the software is not helping:

- It doesn't do that well on auto. In my previous cars, I have set everything to auto and just toggled the temperature; fans go up and down accordingly. In this car, I just don't really trust the auto to work all that well.
- It responds to inputs on a delay. Maybe this is hurting my patience with the auto, but even in direct fan speed input, there is a delay when you turn it up or down.
- The number of buttons and the displays are hard to read. At times, when I toggle the fan physical control, the screen just shows a picture of a fan - not a number. Is this working? Who knows? The larger menu for the AC has confusing colors (we've discussed this elsewhere, but I'd love to see the displays just be more obvious, the minimalist vibe is too minimal).
- Even with all the info on the screen, it's hard to know why it's still loud. One of the tricky ones I've had to learn is that you can have everything turned down in the front but if the rear is still set to high fan, it still absolutely howls behind the dash. So you have to know to go to the "Rear" submenu and turn the fans down there.

If the software worked more reliably and heat and cold worked faster, I think you'd get less impatient button mashing, and the software should be set (when in auto) to have a really hard bias towards keeping the fan below 5.

I've never needed the seat heaters in a vehicle this badly.

Please keep me updated. My SC is giving me hard time to even schedule an appointment. They claim they are so overwhelmed that would only take cars that need to be towed in. I’m really upset and disappointed.

What SC are you at? For me, they have requested replacement handles that will take a week to get here. I have other items on the list as well so it's a longish list.
 
Ok, I was finally able to get the whistling sound recorded from the AC unit. Anyone else see (hear) the same thing ?

Seems to be coming from the windshield vents.

I have had 2 services over the past 4 months and they have been great and really responsive. It seems they are really getting busy. I was hoping it’s just a software bug that would go away with an upgrade.

Any updates on the door handle issue? I was hoping the new update will fix it but it didn’t. I still can’t get them to schedule me at Tyson’s SC.

I would assume the flappy bird problem is a hardware issue. Or perhaps the combination of insufficiently robust software and a hardware glitch. I wouldn't hold out any hope of a future OTA update fixing the problem without a SC visit.
 
I have been trying to get an appointment but they keep saying they are only taking cars with bigger problems. They also insisted that this is a software issue, which doesn’t make sense to me.
