First road trip EPIC fail

Got my car back yesterday. Lucid replaced the FDU and performed like 10 fixes to the car. Also updated the car to 3.3.5 and the fob firmware update. So far so good. Car is not suffering as bad from the blank screens and has regained my key fob everytime.

Hoping this is my last time in the shop for my GDE.

I hope they got everything fixed. My GGT had to be towed three weeks after delivery since it would not shift into drive or reverse. On my first roadtrip too. Everything else worked. It recognized the key fob and keycard, but refused to go into drive or reverse. It was there 10days. I got it back and everything seemed to work fine, but then started getting error messages that I reported earlier, regarding other issues. It is headed back to Lucid Tysons Corner, VA for the second time in less than two months of ownership. I have sent them very detailed documentation of the issues and warnings, with date and time stamps. I also sent them several photos and videos of the issues. Hopefully this time they will reference the logs to resolve the numerous issues. Good luck. Keep us posted.

Yeah I hope they get your’s fixed up as well. Between this FDU replacement and replacing the 2nd row seats, replacing a scratched trim piece and realigning both the trunk and trunk, I really hope I’m done. It it goes in for something big again, I’ll lemon law the car. The early GDEs seem to have a ton of issues.

Wow! Good luck. That is a lot of issues. I’ve owned Lucids since 2022 and previously they went above and beyond making sure everything was addressed and fixed. Let us know how it goes.

New update. the 2nd row seats broke again. Went to go get my youngest into the 3rd row and it made a big clunking noise and its jammed. this is the first time I was going to put someone in the 3rd row. sooooo frustrated. this car is not ready for a daily driver. I think I am going to lemon law claim at this point.

Hey. Sorry to hear about your troubles.

My cars been in for FDU replacement and it’s nearly 3 weeks and counting. I’ve only driven it for 5-6 days of ownership. There’s also the AC and heating issue- car does not even start to heat up unless cranked all the way to 76-78F.

I suspect I might have to go down the lemon route and explore some options. Would love to learn about your experience with Lucid.

Keep us posted on this.

I will. The car has been in the shop about 50% of my ownership so far.

They are trying to see if the San Diego SC will take me or they need to tow to Costa Mesa again. This would be the 3rd time.

I initiated the Lemon Law case with Lucid today. I will let people know how it goes.
Lucid did initiate the Lemon Law claim case. They said it might be a couple weeks as they pull together all the service history and make their assessment. Meanwhile the car is scheduled to go back to the SC on the 15th for a 3rd attempt at fixing the 2nd row seats. They seem to be leaning to replacing the entire seat and seat track this time... they said they have no idea how long it will be in the SC for this.

Took the wife to Palm Desert on our anniversary and about 50 miles out from the hotel.

Got an error message saying a drive unit has an error, performance is degraded and stability control is gone. Car wouldnt go beyond 50 mph and we had to limp in to the hotel parking lot. This is after being stranded multiple times with the key and blank screen issues and the car not opening the other doors frequently..

such a frustrating experience. Now I have to contact Lucid Customer care tomorrow and see if they can troubleshoot or pickup my GDE and give me a loaner to get back to San Diego.

I am seriously thinking about just telling them to take the car back as a lemon and buying the porsche taycan I should have bought.
This is a sorry tale. I was very much worried about taking delivery on Gravity. I could not imagine why Lucid would fail to take advantage of all the positive press surrounding the first “friends and family” Gravity deliveries in Dec 2024. I ordered a pretty well spec’d version soon thereafter (Feb ‘25) and thought that with all the proven genius behind this company, I would have mine by May/June. Etc. But couldn’t get a word out of them. By August, the lease was expiring on my BMW iX (excellent in very way, except possibly, exterior design) and I needed to move on. Taycan 4S CT. Performs as advertised. Good luck figuring out the Gravity. Lucid (and you,) have only my best wishes.
