Greetings Everyone,

I joined the forum about a year ago after placing my order for a Gravity Grand Touring in Lunar Titanium on February 14, 2025. I check the forum twice daily and truly appreciate the balanced perspectives shared here — both the positives and the areas of concern.

I’ve worked in the automotive industry for over 35 years. I began my career right out of graduate school with a major U.S. OEM, spent more than 20 years there, then moved into management with an exotic Italian brand. I now work as a consultant.

After 20 years in Arizona, we recently relocated to a mid-sized town in the Midwest. My nearest Lucid Studio is outside Chicago, and service for me would be either mobile support from Louisville or the Service Center in Michigan — about 228 miles away.

I’ve previously owned several EVs, including an EV9, EV6, and an i-Pace. None were particularly impressive — one was bought back, and another actually caught fire. I also drove Tesla when they were first introduced but was not comfortable with the build quality at the time, so I never purchased.

My early interactions with Lucid were mixed. My initial Sales Advisor reached out via text. When I asked detailed questions about the Dream Edition, I found some of the responses inaccurate, so I requested a different SA. Unfortunately, the second SA also seemed unfamiliar with Gravity and lacked broader vehicle knowledge.

In June, I sent two USPS Registered, Return Receipt letters to Lucid — one addressed to Marc Winterhoff and another to Nick Twork. Both were signed for. I wasn’t expecting a personal reply from either executive, but I had hoped someone from Lucid would follow up regarding my questions and concerns. I did not receive a response.

In October 2025, I decided to add the one option I had originally omitted — the Tow Package. Initially, I was told I would need to cancel my order and start over. At that point I was prepared to cancel entirely, so I contacted Customer Care. Within an hour, I received a call from someone higher up at Lucid who resolved the issue. I was able to add the Tow Package without restarting the order. Since then, I’ve been working directly with that individual rather than through a Sales Advisor.

My first drive of the Gravity was just before the holidays. We scheduled the appointment under a different name. The driving dynamics were excellent — no complaints there. However, the overall experience left much to be desired. The HUD was covered with a black towel. The Surround Sound Pro demo was tuned to a foreign-language local FM station. When I asked to engage any form of cruise control or driver assistance, I was told it was unavailable at that time.

The Studio atmosphere was also concerning. This was during Lucid’s end-of-year push to move units before the close of 2025. I overheard guests asking specific questions about features, and Sales Advisors appeared to be telling customers what they wanted to hear rather than providing fully accurate information. Examples included statements that CarPlay would be released before the end of 2025, that Phone-as-a-Key was already active, and that hands-free driving would arrive in Q1 2026. The SA who handled our drive seemed to have limited knowledge of Gravity specifically and of vehicle systems in general.

One piece of information I can share: I was told Lunar Titanium production would begin with a late-February run.

I’m in no rush for delivery. In fact, I would prefer that some of the early production issues (software) be resolved before taking delivery. I’ve communicated that to Lucid and am currently targeting a late May or June delivery.

I may have omitted certain details, but I am under multiple NDAs and need to be careful about what I share publicly.

Looking forward to continuing the discussion here.

That means you can share the juicy details privately right? 😜

Welcome!

Thanks for the post - interesting. Working with Lucid does require a certain flexibility and a willingness to dig a little deeper in the research phase, so that your growing expectations match reality fairly well. I've owned an Air GT for 3.5 years, likely one of the first couple thousand made, and have a Gravity on order.

I was briefly confused by your signature - to me, the GTC/4 and the Lusso are two different cars! When I was younger, I owned a 330GTS and a 246GTS.

Welcome! The wait may be a blessing in disguise as Lucid gets all the kinks worked out. You’ll probably get some of the production line hardware fixes that have been mentioned on this forum, such as the second row seat motors and the cupholders (assuming the rumors are true).

The SSP sound system is great (but Volvo is still the best with the B&W speakers and tuning). I know the HUD gets a lot of flak with some people hating it, but I’d still get it, even though I do wish it was better. I’m probably in the minority for the HUD. Just lower your expectations.

It’s good you are coming in with your eyes open. For what it’s worth, I still love my Gravity after nearly two months of ownership - I knew what I was signing up for. It’s a joy to drive, and I’m confident the software problems will get worked out, especially with the focus on robustness as shown in the last software update.

I have bought 14 cars in my lifetime, not one salesperson knew more about the car then me and not one of them had all the answers. This is nothing out of the ordinary.

What specific improvements or changes would you like to see from Lucid in terms of customer service and communication, based on your experiences with the sales advisors and your interactions with the company?

It sounds like the vehicle itself impressed you, but gaps in communication, product knowledge, and consistency from Lucid Motors staff are still a concern. Waiting until later production for software maturity seems like a sensible approach given your experience.
