Thought I'd share some thoughts on my experience in case others are interested in "glamping" in the Gravity. I did a one night, test-camp trip up on Old NC 105 overlooking Linville Gorge, which is only about an hour from my house. Everything worked really well...a few random notes and photos:
-Driving in was seriously bumpy. Roads are dirt & gravel but has a lot of washed out ruts and bumps. Often I was only about 10-15 mph and kept the car in Highest height setting. It is just amazing that this car can do this, but then becomes a sports car when you hit pavement again.
-You can see how much I brought and the Gravity easily handled it all. The side shelf I built worked perfectly and I was able to store a lot under it. My original concept was to keep the bed clear and ready in case I want to stealth camp. But my camping concept is based on 2 night trips and with the Clam tent, I had to put stuff on the mattress which isn't a big deal. (Exped air & foam mattress btw. Highly recommended)
-Once unpacked, I put the power bank up on the shelf, used it for air fryer, phone, lights, StarLink, etc.
-I built the back shelf and it worked great for the monitor. It uses existing hooks in car so a bit lower than I'd like but works well.
-Used StarLink for Wifi and it worked perfectly. I put the power cable at the top, center of the trunk door and it was not damaged and trunk shut fine.
-I only used the Gravity for HVAC...and I had my Oupes Power Bank getting trickle charge from the 12v DC. (I am not sure it was working all night in Creature Comfort. Matter of fact, I'm pretty sure it shut off at some point when the car slept. I hope they fix this when a real Camp Mode comes out.
-I used Creature Comfort for HVAC and put my FOB in a faraday pouch. It worked great. I could even get in/out of back door and it would stay on. With only CC on and heat set to 73/74 on a night it got down to 30 degrees, the car only used 10% of the battery from 7pm to 10am.
-I made my own window treatments and they worked perfectly. I also did a curtain so I didn't have to black out front 3 windows.
Now, I cannot wait for Camp Mode as it will make things easier. I'm hoping...
-Self leveling would be huge. I used leveling blocks last night but I was still off a bit. Self leveling would be excellent, even if only back to front.
-Please let us use "Live View" when in car in camp mode. When all settled in and windows covered, there were several times I wanted to check on something outside. However, in CC, you can't even put the back windows down. It'd be better anyways just to allow us to check all cameras around car for safety.
-Let 12v power keep working even if car sleeps/CC/camp mode/etc.
Not sure how many are interested in this stuff but I'm looking forward to my next trip in a couple weeks to Smoky Mountains. Happy to answer any questions if anyone has any...
