Engineering Explained - Lucid Responded

I agree this is all good news from Lucid. And I’m glad they reached out to this guy, who produced an honest review with valid points.

I would just like to remind everyone to take all of Lucid’s proposed release dates here with the usual 2-lb chunk of salt.

I predict lots of posts about Lucid “promising” this or that later this year when none of this has shipped yet.

I’d much rather 3.0 be late than buggy. Though it will be buggy, too. Because all software has bugs.

Just trying to set expectations.

Will definitely wait for the bugs to wring themselves on UX3.0 before I shell out $1K for the infotainment upgrade. My Air will be out of warranty by December and will have to consider if I'll be keeping or getting an extended warranty from XCare or not.
I got the upgrade in August. It made things about 50% quicker in response.

I completely agree with you, but at some point, Lucid will have to deliver on their promises. They’ve consistently missed deadlines for everything (or at least a majority) of their products & features, and I think this aggravates owners even more because they don’t simply communicate when something is delayed for a valid reason that they've put a timeline to.

Honestly, I was surprised that UX3.0 was coming so soon to Air as it seems to contradict what was said at a recent owners event in San Diego. At this point in time, I don't see it coming when promised nor do I see L2++ coming for Gravity by year end. Hopefully Lucid can prove me wrong and I'll gladly take the "we told you so" from them

If they’re aiming for fall 2026 I wonder if they’re aiming to synchronize the rollout with the 2027 Airs, which will perhaps have it preloaded.

We all take risks, investing, and driving in brand new vehicles from a brand new for all intents and purposes car company. It’s part of the adventure both good and bad. The good thing is I don’t think anyone here doubts that the cars are masterpiece in terms of styling and driving experience which ultimately to me are the most important things. Even if they’re not to you, the software will come around and this is really great to see that they’re really focused in on these enhancements and upgrades. All of us early adopters just need to be patient or if you don’t want to be patient move onto an established company. No one is holding you back.

Software delivery estimation is extremely difficult under the best circumstances. While you are in the middle of transitioning your team to new leadership is just insanity. If I were them, I wouldn’t attach a month or even a quarter to any upcoming release.

I agree to most of that. It looks great and drives great. But it’s the only new car I can remember where I legit had to worry about reliability in day to day use. It’s just…weird.

When UX3 comes out for the Air, what do you expect it to bring? Do you think there will be functionality that Air owners won't be able to get without it? Will that be the end of OTA updates for anybody that is not on it? As someone who is happy with my CCCv1 performance, I would like to know of a solid payback before I shell out $1K for CCCv2. (And please don't tell me that I'll need CCCv2 for the next big feature step in DDP. After shelling out $9k on the 'future-ready' hardware and associated promised features, I expect Lucid to GIVE me CCCv2 if that's what it takes to make good.)

Also, for the sake of those of us sitting on a mountain of referral points with a ticking clock and no place to go, PLEASE LUCID... let us use some of our points to 'buy' CCCv2. Given all the deals you lavish on new buyers, throw an occasional bone to the rest of us!

I would like:

Seat preconditioning as indicated

Faster wake up

Less bugs

Custom colors

Headlight timers after key off

The car on the screen color to match my own car

Geofencing walk away locks

Stuff Tesla has had for a decade basically

I applaud Jason of EE for making a video in which brought up a lot of painful and speculations points us owners have. He then got a massively helpful response video. We the community all own these vehicles and we all have problems. If you want Lucid to succeed then the path forward is explanation, guidance, and change.

It is not keeping things quiet and hoping they’ll change. It’s not the promise of oh “we’ll change” after a conversation. That’s basically putting up with a toxic relationship because the significant other is really really fine.

I digress, we all want Lucid to succeed so we as owners need Lucid as a company to be accountable and also push them in the right direction. Brushing things under the rug will not solve forward progress.

The surprise to me was the thought that V2H, coupled with the Lucid Home Charging Station, would not require a bunch of additional wall-mounted hardware, like an inverter. Maybe that's been generally known all along, but was news to me. Nice!
I noted that as well. My concern is that implementing V2H will require expensive safety realted work (a transfer switch, including isolation) on the home panel to prevent power from going back toward the power Co.

I would be happy with a lower cost box containing a few 110 V outlets, that connects only to the car and makes the car think its in V2H mode, while its really providing a V2L capability via that (home panel emulating) box.

Surprised no one is cheering about the cup holders 😂

I’m honestly not looking forward to UX 3.0. Given the current struggles with software quality and the 'one step forward, two steps back' nature of their bug fixes, I’d actually prefer to stick with the semi-stable 2.x.x versions. We expected the Gravity to be a turning point since Lucid was well aware of the entry system issues and general glitches, yet those same problems have persisted. While there’s hope that the midsize platform or 2027 models will finally get it right, I’m managing my expectations. I don’t mean to sound negative, I’m actually picking up my second Lucid later today, but I want to be transparent about the software reality.
Having all models on the same software stack is better…..

I'll cheer when I find out what the "solution" and how much the "retrofit" cost will be!! I do agree, that the cups and the wireless phone charger were two of the most poorly designed elements of the interior. The cup holders are way too tight, and the phone cannot be charged with a case or if it has a large camera bump like most iPhones have.

I have the iPhone 13 Pro Max in a case and it charges just fine 🤷‍♀️

My 15 Pro Max in a case (that is not that thick) does not and requires an extreme amount of force to shove it into the slot. I rigged up a separate MagSafe charger on the passenger side slot.

EE is our hero cuz they’ve been ignoring the rest of us for 5 years.
I was actually thinking the same... It's great they have reacted to the videos from EE, OOS, Savage Geese, etc. But owners have been claiming the same for years and never got a response or explanation.

For what it's worth, the TWRAPS MagSafe phone charging deck both looks and works great. Well worth the price, IMO.

Well when a video gets over 1 million views….. people take notice
