Door glass not going down when closing door

My loaner Gravity just ran into a weird problem. The door glass won't go down, so I can close the driver side door. I try using the window controls on the inside of the door but it doesn't respond. To be clear it's not automatically dropping when you pull the latch so that the door doesn't hit the frame of the car.

I'm at a loss of what to do. I've rebooted three times now.

Resets are for infotainment only and have nothing to do with the windows. Have you tried walking away and letting it sleep for a while?

That's what I'm doing now. I left the door open and just went inside. Turned the HVAC off and the stereo. all the screen are still on though.
 
Ok the car drop the window half way, so I went out and went through the passenger side and from the inside rolled the window down all the way. But when I go to roll it up it stops half way.

Then I rolled it down and kept holding the button down for 5 seconds and then now the window is stuck completely down.

I don't think the car will reset with the door open.
 
I think somebody in the past has mentioned a re-homing reset, perhaps the Service Center can do it while you wait.

RESOLVED Thread 'Window does not close'

Hello everyone,

This morning I lowered my driver side window at a drive thru, and then it would not close completely. When I press the close button, it comes all the way to 50% and spring back and stay there.

Any more attempts resulted in the same outcome. Does anyone here had similar issue before? If so, how to address it?

And overnight the window seemingly fixed itself. I'm just glad I was at home when this happened. I can't imagine being out and about with a door that won't close or a window stuck down.

I had it happen when parked in a safe place. Sleep cured it.

The reset process for the window (manual down, then when all the way down, hard down for 10 seconds, let go. Manual up til closed. That reset mine).

But, sleep cured the "won't close all the way" or "won't come down when door opens" issue.

If you have the situation where the window doesn't move donw the 1/2 inch to close door, push in the top of the window while slooowly closing door. You'll be able to fit the window into the frame before the motor closes the door the rest of the way. Then let it sleep for a few minutes.

I'll keep this in mind. I suspect I'll have this loaner for a few weeks and now I'm nervous about this problem.

It's funny, the loaners's key has been perfect until yesterday. The moment the key acted up, wouldn't lock when I walked away, the window had this issue.

My car does have this problem depending on weather until I can get it to service. I have it recorded. What I found is if you can get the window down halfway, then all the way you can reset it's positioning. I also gently push the window out, I feel its uber sensitive to some pinch type sensor so when it goes up and hits the weather stripping it stops and opens back down again.
 
My right front passenger window started having this off and on, nearly from the beginning. Finally at 5000 miles it got stuck 1/3 down. I opened the door and it moved down a lttle like it does normally but didn't go up when the door shut. One more time--same thing. Now it's halfway down.

Mobile service came and ended up replacing the whole window drive unit. Evidently the sensor is in the motor and it was defective. He also replaced both the frunk and rear hatch power struts, which I guess were recall issues. Next to do for recall is the left rear seat weld which is "too short", a safety recall that has to be done in the dealer (5 passenger model).

Still the best vehicle I have ever owned!

Lot of people have issues, some minor and others major. But your tagline says it all!
Wish I saw that more often.💯
 
When I had this happen to my driver’s window the only thing that fixed it was letting the car go to sleep. The door handle also wouldn’t present. I tried 3 hard resets and it didn’t help. It wasn’t until I got the car home and it went to sleep that it started acting normally.
