Does SiriusXM require a subscription in Gravity?

Since there's no SXM antenna offered for the Gravity, I assumed we could just log in with our existing SXM account to stream. But now I'm not so sure. To use the included SXM interface in the pilot screen, do we have to purchase a separate subscription? Not seeing a way just to log in.
 
From my Air experience, you need to have a package specifically for your Gravity’s “radio” in order to use the native SXM app once the free trial expires.

To use your existing streaming account, you’d have to just use your phone and Bluetooth but you’d have to control it all via your phone.

I’m now waiting to get a good enough offer from SXM since my trial ran out on my GDE. Let me know if anyone has recommendations for how to get the $4-5/month deals without waiting for them to offer it.

I just called them told them I sold the old car and they offered me $5 monthly. Credited me the remaining balance against the new subscription and told me it would be $60 annually going forward.
 
I’m assuming that it’s the same as the Air. The hardware has an associated radio ID even though it’s internet (not satellite) based. You would be able to use an existing subscription via car play. And frankly sometimes that’s more reliable than the Lucid hardware. And as others have noted a low cost hardware subscription can be had by calling Sirius and negotiating.

I have the XM app subscription on the Gravity, which is an additional subscription.

On the Air I have 3 “Subscriptions”: XM Satellite radio for traveling in non cell areas; Lucid XM car app for convenience; Apple CarPlay for listening to XM podcasts because the Lucid does not support the ones I want.

My conclusion is that the CarPlay route is the most flexible, although the interface is a bit clunky.

As a side note: On my Cybertruck I have the Tesla Internet XM app (which supports the podcasts I want) along with Starlink to get reception in non cell areas.
 
Yeah it's much easier to go through your phone app. I wouldn't even bother.
 
The Gravity does have a radio ID as we just got an email that we can get a trial of SXM for it and it's listed in the email. It's All Access at $2 for three months and then the full $24.98/month after.

You can get all access(Howard Stern included) for a year for 6 bucks a month if you get them to apply the right promo. App only but as I mentioned it’s a lot easier to go via app than car interface.

Yeah, I still get them contacting me trying to give me crazy deals on my Jeep but I haven't had the stock stereo in that for over 8 years now and those deals are tied to that radio ID. I was never a SXM fan anyway.

Tidal on the other hand has been amazing with the SSPro and I'm glad I signed up for the trial of that for a few months.

I never have any problem getting them down to $5.99/mo for the Music & Entertainment package. For years I got them down to $4.99/mo but a couple of years ago $5.99 seemed to be the standard (which is fair given how costs for everything gave gone up). I have heard some like you say they still got $4.99 though. I'm fine with either, I just won't pay 4x that, which is the list price that no one should settle for.

I set a phone reminder to call back every year. Actually, I use the CHAT feature, since I hate doing these things by phone unless I have to.

In our Porche Macan, they had a special 6-mo intro off after the free trail was over. I think it was like $25 for 6mo, which is a little cheaper than normal. Then I'll chat again to get a good annual price.

I jump around channels a lot when driving, particularly using the seek button on the steering wheel. Keeping the car interface for that (as well as the full screen of options on the PCM) is worth a few bucks a month to me.

I was just hoping we could simply log in to our existing account since the Gravity is streaming only (disappointingly), but sounds like that's not an option.

You do log into your account. I'm using the same app sign-in which was attached to my account when I had the radio..

You're able to login (email and password) into SXM on the car's Pilot screen? I didn't see a spot to do that, but maybe I wasn't looking in the right spot.

Cool. I'll have to hunt for that again when I get home. We're on a trip right now (Gravity is at home - didn't fully trust it for a road trip yet until I test it out around home more).

I activated the free trial for now too, so maybe that doesn't show the login screen? Or I simply missed where it is.
 
I was able to log in using my current SiriusXM account. I don’t remember the exact sequence, but the Gravity SiriusXM presented a code, and I authenticated that code in iPhone app.

I think you have to go to settings > apps > SXM or something like that.

That’s where I had to go to set up Tidal with it’s QR code.

Yes I’ve used the chat twice the last two years to renew at 5.66/mo. I recommend that method!
