Gotta say I'm disappointed in the colors offered right now. I sure hope it expands, but given that "Lunar Titanium" is next up and already showing as "Late Availability", there definitely won't be other choices in the near future.

REALLY wanted Zenith Red. Just love the color on my Zenith Red Air, and it gets so many compliments from others. Favorite color of any of my cars in a long time.

All the colors are kind of muted. If I were getting one, I'd be going with green or bronze. I guess that what wraps are for.

One more reason for me to wait a while on a Gravity order. Given the history, I'm definitely going to wait and not get an early production Gravity. Too many likely issues on a new model like this. So that makes 4 reasons to wait for 2nd or 3rd year... 1) get the bugs worked out; 2) benefit from whatever early hardware changes may be needed, 3) await more/nicer color choices, and 4) await lower trim levels

I agree that the colors are very muted. Lucid seems to have a very restrained color aesthetic in general. I'm sure it's actually just very refined and I'm too much of a neanderthal to appreciate it all, but I want some colors that sing a little louder. I almost really like Zenith Red, and it probably would have been my top choice as well (though I'm disappointed that the Lunar Titanium is not available). But even the Zenith Red is just a little too dialed down for me. I wish it were a few clicks brighter. I wish they would go with a few bigger, bolder colors.

I am also considering a wrap. I've never done that before though. Do wraps come out with the same depth as well-done metallic paints? I'm tempted to try a matte if I don't like the Aurora Green (my final choice). But I don't know how that will work with the Gravity's overall aesthetic.

restrained color aesthetic...

I'm sticking with, someone at Lucid is terrified of color.

With matte, just check the recommendations on washing- I know for matte paint, it is recommended to hand wash.

From what's shown on the webpage and wording, there seems to be a nature theme/earth tones.
"Powerful by nature". Nature scenes.
"Hues that open a universe of possibility". I was hoping for Fathom Blue since the "universe" is beyond the sky.
And yet "Gravity"; down to earth.

Doesn't every color exist in nature if you look for it?

Nature is far from drab and professional. Let's see some sky at sunset over the ocean colors.

Works for me!
I agree!
Give me my favorite color; blue!

Just guessing.

I agree but I think that it's true of the industry in general. The most popular car colors are white, black, gray and silver. A particularly fashionable color these days looks like gray primer, which is not far from what cars would have looked like decades ago if they never made it to the final painting stage. An advantage to a limited color selection is that it speeds up productivity. I have a green Tesla, which they reportedly made hundreds of before they decided to cut down on the selection to speed up throughput.

In theory, it would be easy enough to have certain days in the month when they batch certain colors based on orders, if volume is high enough, but in practice their design team is going to want to coordinate interiors and exteriors in a certain way, and expanding color choices too much isn't going to fly. The process isn't identical for each color, and it's not as simple as swapping out paint going into a can.

was going to comment the same thing. If they’re targeting the SUV market, the color preferences of the intended market are a likely a tad different from that of a sports-luxury sedan driver. I see memes all the time about the “white SUV suburban mom” vs. “black SUV suburban mom” battle haha so if that’s influencing anyone at lucid HQ, maybe they’re on the right track

also agreed: i don’t see too many luxury segment SUVs that aren’t some variation of white, black, silver, gold (in their pearl or metallic variations) and then the occasional blue or forest green (and other colors) if someone wants to be “extra” (which I’m not slighting at all haha)

I think it makes sense strategically, and it’s likely part of their cost optimization focus so as an investor, i’m not unappreciative :))

The dealer based model naturally moves to few drab colors. The dealers, the OEM's customer, do not what to stock a vibrant color. A bland color may not excite a buyer but it will not kill a sale. A unique color will excite a slice (5%(?)) of the buyers but will kill the sale for a good number of buyers. Dealers are not in the business of stocking a vehicle whose color might turn away a good portion of the public.

What's disappointing is Lucid is more of a build to order OEM. This should allow them to offer a wider palette of colors.

I ordered black and going to wrap in a color PPF. Probably something like a black cherry wihich is like Zenith red. Key to getting a good wrap is the installer. I wrapped and ceramic coated my MX Plaid and was very happy. It was my 2nd MX and I was also so bored with the colors.
