Destination fee/factory pickup

Rather than shell out the destination fee, I'm going to look into whether Lucid will permit me take (eventual) delivery at the factory. I'd prefer to spend the $1.5k on hotel rooms on a leisurely drive back to the east coast, carefully plotted to take advantage of the EA network. I figure 2.5k a mile trip over a 4 days days' travel will allay any range/recharge anxieties for this 1st time electric vehicle owner.

My understanding is federal law requires that any destination fee must be the same for all customers (whether they pick up car from the factory or from the most remote car dealer in Alaska).

They won’t. Some manufacturers actually charge extra above and beyond the destination fee if you pick it up at the factory because it’s extra work for them. Chevrolet does this if you select “museum delivery” adjacent to the factory for a new Corvette. It’s $995 extra.
