NGL, I gave up partway through when he was being nitpicky about how you'd have to spend a lot of time explaining to people how to open the doors from the inside. The IQ required for car reviews has definitely declined in recent years.

Yep. Same. Gave up part way thru. Dude just really wanted to hate on this car. He hit the big stuff with the bugs and key, which are very valid, but he was determined to hate the car and picked on it for every stupid petty reason he could. I don't like squircles, the seat moves too slow, the glove compartment is too big, lowest vehicle setting is too low. Jeez, what an absolute low standard it takes to do a "review". Lucid may have done themselves no favors with the bugs, but dumb videos like this will convince many people that the car is bad. I guess they need to start buying themselves some "reviews" too...

As I would have expected. I know numerous people here will tear into this review and nitpick things but he has a point. Key points, fit and finish issues (look at B-piller trim behind his head in review and see bulging trim/seal) and software bugs galore. In the end he calls it a technological tour deforce but warns against buying now due to all QC and software issues.

Meanwhile there is this review below of new Porsche Cayenne EV. I know it is less room and more expensive but key takeaway - Software is rock solid.

If you remember, Kyle Conner during his pre-production review of Gravity at about 9 months before deliveries said great driving dynamics but he was very worried about the glitchy software at that point in time.

No one is buying reviews with Consumer Reports. If Lucid wants to stop these poor reviews, they need to fix the software and improve fit/finish -ASAP.

I pointed out the valid concerns, but his nit picky crap was just way too out there for a fair/balanced review.

They fixed the key fob already. Most have reported no issues for weeks/months. It was his first hit. But understandably a reasonable one and Lucid brought that on themselves and they know it, as do we. If they are fair, in a few months or a year, if they do a follow up, (for good or for bad, that's on Lucid mostly) I will be fair too and take back any bias on them.

As for the Cayenne, it looks like it's going to be a truly amazing vehicle and knock it out of the park. Porche is learning from their early mistakes, as the 1st gen Taycan software was TERRIBLE and full of bugs. I had the car for 5 years and that first year was rough, but they improved. This being their 3rd vehicle on this platform and they are showing they are refining their techniques all around and why they have been around so long. I can only hope when Lucid releases the Earth (or whatever it will be called) they can demonstrate as much.

He absolutely had good points but some of the stuff he mentioned were just bafflingly stupid. The "pen holder is too shallow"? It's a place to put the key fob. The door handles are confusing and need explaining to passengers? My wife heard that and even went "huh?" Even mentioning that some ride height settings are better than others for getting in the car is a bit dumb, not everyone is the same height so calling out the one that's perfect? No thanks.

I'm not bashing the review because it's the Gravity, I'm bashing it because it's a crappy, unprofessional review from a professional reviewer.

There are several people here with kids that have said they were fine IIRC.

The door handles don't require much manual force to unlatch. It's electronic. Gentle tug out or up and there is a unlatching click and then , yes, you have to pull open the door, like any other car. It's not hard. My 4 and 9 year old kids have exactly 0 problems opening the doors of Gravity.

It’s a fair review. But can see why he was confused about the fob holder, because that is stupid.

I’m shocked that ugly wrinkled B pillar weatherstrip is the best they could do though. It looks really bad.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder... Some will find the fit and finish of the interior pretty darn great, I do... and some may not. As for the comments on how to use the door handle to exit the vehicle and how challenging he reports providing instructions on how to use the handle to be is a little weird, I have not had to explain it to anyone. The comments re the software bugs are reasonable as were those re the visibility of components under the second row. I have a dog who likes to go to the beach and even with a seat cover I am concerned re sand impacting these components. Ditto for the three kids!

As for the various warnings I think they are pointing out that I am not the great driver I think I am

Agree, Lucid interiors are in between Scandinavian and traditional luxury….most of these old school auto reviewers are used to tonnes of leather everywhere….thats why IQ got Motortrend SUV of the year….their butts liked the seats….nothing about engineering or efficiency. Pretty lame.

My 4 and 6 year old kids open the doors with zero issues after I showed them once. I didn't think to give them the chance to try and figure it out before I showed them.

FWIW, my 5yo has no problem with the doors.

Sorry but anyone who thinks being required to do system resets every couple days is normal needs to take your rose colored glasses off. Yes, people on this forum have learned about doing this but it is a hack to solve a problem due to incompetent software design. Sorry if a moderator admonishes me for my opinions, but people on this forum (along with independent media reviewers) need to stop making excuses for Lucid and hold them accountable.
