I am thinking about a Lucid Air Touring for my daily commute (total of approximately 170 miles each day, 4 days a week)

I’ve owned the last 2 gens of Mercedes EClass, quiet, comfortable and dependable. My 2014 W212 diesel (which my son now drives) is going strong at 290,000 miles and still is returning 40 mpg.

I need a quiet cabin, comfort and range.

The Air, based on my research, is a contender. But I’ve read and watched YouTubers complain about tire noise or electric motor whine. How real or how bad is this noise? I’m not close to any center to drive one. Thanks in advance for your insights.

I have the 20s and haven’t noticed any tire whine at all. There’s a slight motor hum I guess when you accelerate but it’s nothing near the sound of even the smaller ICE motor. There’s nothing in the car that makes as much noise as even a bumblebee.

2025 Model year onwards has new motor mounts that addressing the electric motor whine. Regarding tire noise, you do hear much, except on rough roads but that applies to ICE cars as well.

3+ years of ownership and I have not 'heard' the electric motor whine. And have not seen the YT you mentioned.

Tire noise (road noise) is subjective and will depend on type of roads & tire sizes. I run 19s (OEM was 21s) now. Better range, more cush, but I lost the'feel' of the car+road.

Just to clarify from those who say whine doesn’t exist - what does it sound like? I for sure hear the motors when I’m accelerating, especially at speeds of 60+mph.

Motor whine on my '25 AT is only noticeable if my audio is off - and I don't usually listen to music / podcasts at high volume.

I have a touring and love it. Came from model S and 740i prior and I like it a lot better. If you haven’t already test one.
