Specifically where the moving pieces meet the front and rear glass. These trim pieces are a real pain to keep clean and require a sometimes hard scrub to do so. When dirty, they almost look rusted and pitted. Anyone have a recommendation for a product that might make it a little more spot resistant?

Wax or sealant if your choice

This worked very well for me on our Volvo, lasting a couple years. It's serious stuff that is easy to apply but you'll want to wear gloves. It's a ceramic-bearing resin rather than an oil. Caution: if you get a spot of it on trim that you didn't intend to coat, that spot will be darker and glossier forever. So be aware of coating material on your gloves' fingertips before you open a door and touch interior trim, or press the trunk close button, etc. The trunk-close button on our Volvo now has a permanent glossy spot in the middle - can't scrub it off with anything.
