Charge port door stuck closed? Read this

Since Wednesday morning, I've had charge port failure, wiper failure drive system warning and auto high beam failure. WTF. Out of warranty might mean the end of my time with Lucid. Can't wait to see how much this is going to cost out of pocket.
You’re already out of warranty?

Just to finish up the nearly comical sequence of events since Wednesday morning...

When I went out to my car Wednesday morning to pack and go away for Christmas, my car was plugged in and nearly at 100%. When I opened the driver's door, I heard the alert and looked at the dash to see that there was a charge port door error. I thought this was weird because the cable was still plugged in at the time so the door should not have even been trying to move.

I unplugged the cable, manually closed the door as best I could which left it slightly open because it wouldn't close flush, and went on my. I charged twice during the day manually opening and closing the door each time. After the second charge, as I was on the highway driving, my wipers turned on by themselves and would not turn off. I was getting charge port door and wiper failure errors as I was driving. Eventually, the wipers stopped.

When I got to my destination, I noticed that the charge port door had closed completely... And would not open using any method. The rest of this story is detailed above.

After finally getting the door open to charge, I thought I was good. Less than 24 hours later, the wipers turned themselves on again and would not turn off. They ran for over 24 hours as the car was parked, locked and charging in the driveway.

This morning, as I was packing up to leave, they stopped again. But this time, they would not turn back on at all, not auto nor either of the 'on' options. On the way home I was continously getting error messages for the charge port door and wiper failure. But this time, each time I put it in drive, I got a drive system warning and auto high beam failure when I tried to engage that.

I'm home now with a car I won't be able to drive safely because of the wiper failure and wondering how long and how much it will take to get all this fixed. Depressing end to a Christmas celebration weekend.

Oh, customer service was GREAT with the charge port door issue even on Christmas eve and Christmas day! I got it open on Friday with help from the Rutherford service team. And they were absolutely worthless after that when I contacted them regarding the windshield wiper failure problem. I can't even believe it was the same department. So disappointing

Interesting to me that the problem was traced to a bad module. My car was diagnosed with a bad module the first week of delivery (Sept. '22). Once it was replaced I have not had any problems. This car is loaded with modules. Bet it's hard to diagnose...software "issues" could be an hardware issue.

I don't know if my issue was a bad module. Part of what I learned is that for such an advanced piece of engineering, there's definitely some questionable design elements that can cripple the car. In my case, the charge port door motor failed likely because it was not and is not protected adequately from rain, snow, car washes etc. When the inside of the wheel well was removed, there was literally snow behind it in the compartment where the motor and electric cables reside. Not sealed well at all. And the mobile service tech (who was great) said he didn't have a way to seal it any better. I'm guessing it's only a matter of time before this happens again but fingers crossed. At least I know how to handle it now.
