CarPlay Issues

I am a new Air/Pure owner and having issues when connected to CarPlay. When CarPlay is active I cannot listen to terrestrial radio or Sirius XM. When CarPlay is not active I cannot place a call through the car from my iPhone. I get a message saying that I must go through Car Play. Any advice would me greatly appreciated.
