I’m so confused by this car.

You cannot manually turn on the 3rd row hvac.

I have kids sitting in the back seat and they’re overheating because the car’s sensors can’t detect them when they’re sitting in their booster seats. And there is no way to manually turn on the 3rd row HVAC.

Yeah I found you just have to set 2nd row to manual and fan at least 5 then it's fine in the 3rd row.

Does the 3rd turn on when you set the 2nd row to 5 or there’s just enough airflow from the 2nd row hitting the 3rd row?

I found you can hit the Max setting and the 3rd row turns on, but I can only leave this on for a minute to cool the car down otherwise it’s too cold.
 
I found 3rd row is always on when 2nd row is on, just low fan speeds are not moving enough air into the back. I thought mine were broken, but did a somewhat scientific test with an IR Gun and the air temp coming out of the vent was actually cold. Also I set it to only use the upper vent on the 2nd row.

Were you sitting in the seat? There’s a sensor that turns on the 3rd row when you’re sitting, but booster seats and young children aren’t heavy enough or sitting in the right spot to trigger the sensor.

Even when I set the setting to 10 in the 2nd row, the 3rd still stays off.
 
They need to find a way to fix this, it's a problem with children. Some kind of manual override for the sensor

Yes I was sitting in the 3rd row, I myself am not clear how it works and is triggered. I tried tricking it by bucking the seat belt but that is not the same...I have filed a bug on the HVAC logic in the swfeedback system though.
 
Seems very easy to add a third row option to control it just like you can do with second row. Wether there are people on the the third row or not cooling the rear seems obvious especially in a two row gravity, not sure if a two row has vents though
 
the engineers at Lucid don’t seem to have kids because aside from the car being big and comfortable all the software is not kid-friendly at all.

The 2nd row can’t move forward to give access to the 3rd row when there are 2 car seats or boosters.

The 3rd row hvac can’t be manually turned on.

These are literally the 2 most essential things for being kid-friendly.
 
Well, in most 3-row SUV’s, the 3rd row is completely useless for adults and never gets used. At least we can use the 3rd row for grown-ups while the 2nd row holds babies 🤣.

A real 3rd row was one of the reasons I got the Gravity. Also, when we used the 3rd row, no complaints from the passengers. Vents worked. I’m past the car seat stage, though.

You can’t get into the 3rd row if the 2nd row has car seats or booster seats. The seat back won’t tilt forward enough to trigger the seat to move forward. Even manually moving the seat forward won’t work because the movement is limited unless triggered by the actual top button.

Yeah, I get it. It was a poor attempt at humor. I vividly remember our car seat days and all the extra pain I had dealing with car seats.

I wonder if Lucid could help via a software update or if they are constrained by some safety standard.

Can any 3 row SUV fold the seats forward if there are child seats in the middle row?

I doubt that, how would that be possible. the car seats are usually way too big

I don’t know. But the current design of the 2nd row requires that the seat be leaned forward slightly to trigger the bottom to start sliding forward which is a poor design.
 
See the 2 different positions?

If you simply try to move the seat forward without using the required “3rd row button entry” button, the bottom cannot slide forward far enough to be able to access the 3rd row. That’s literally as far as the forward adjustment will go.

The 3rd row HVAC issue isn't just about kids in the back. A number of us want to transport dogs in the back, and keeping a fur covered animal from overheating in the summer really calls for the HVAC system to effectively cool the rear of the vehicle.

I don’t know if this helps for third row access—it is still a bit of a squeeze—but you can fold the middle seat of the second row, making the second row almost like captains chairs. In the attached photo I’ve got my finger on the strap that lets you do this. It’s in the back and on top of the seat, just pull

This is exactly our concern also. We carry two dogs in the very back all the time. We always need to turn on manually the rear AC down to 67 and fan at 5 or 6. The 3rd row vents will still not turn on. We do have enough cool air to keep them from overheating but there needs to be a better way for dog owners.
